Hi all, I am very near to buying the Sager NP8662 from XoticPC.
I have two questions before doing so:
1) The WUXGA (1920x1200) screen option. Could someone please give me details on both of the screen options? Such as color depth, response time, brightness on each screen?
2) Does the motherboard on the NP8662 need to be modified to accommodate the Quad core? As I am planning on getting a Dual core and upgrading it when the prices of quads goes down.
Thank you for any replys.![]()

The biggest issue with quads right now is managing heat--
If you're used to 32C with the P8X00, P9X00 series, seeing temps in the upper 40s to 59C for "normal" load may come as a shock. Start playing games and you're easily in the mid 60s (71-74 with UT3). -
Thanks for the replys guys, much appreciated.
One more question though. The Review didn't comment on was the response time (aka ghosting). I was wondering is it bad? because I think I read somewhere that the WUXGA has a response time of 25ms? -
the new WUXGA screens in these notebooks have 16ms response.
my old WUXGA screen has 25ms response... which I do not notice in my gaming purposes for the last 3 years. -
Thank you Gophn!
That was the reply was all I needed to go ahead and get the WUXGA on the Sager.
Thanks guys for answering my questions! I will probably be back when I get the laptop -
The review mentions how bright and contrasty the 1920x1200 screen gets. But how dark can it get? One of the best things about my ancient Dell laptop is that the screen isn't very bright, enabling me to type in total darkness without having to gouge out my eyeballs. Can the sager get this dark using only the keys, or will I have to use the nvidia control panel options to do it manually?

The screen's dimmer goes really low. I think you'd be satisfied with the range.
