Topic says it all. I could hang around till the "begining of the year" as some rumors suggest, but nowhere near close to "1H 2013"!![]()
What do you guys think? Aiming for the 13.3 with a 765m

the GTX 860M wont be here until May 2014 or more !

I'd not worry just now myself, too far away.
-
go for the GTX 765M and OC it (+135MHz / 400Mhz) and you will get a 860M @ stock or 770M @ stock

We have no idea about what a 860M would perform like. The 765M needs quite an overclock to match the 770m.
-
Yeah, best 3DMark FireStrike I can get with 765m is about 2900 and at +350/+550 (~1240/5100) overclock. 770m stock is 3300 3DMark FireStrike. Not that FireStrike is everything, but it's a decent indicator of 1080p performance. Plus the 770m has the benefit of 192-bit vs 128-bit which can make a significant difference at higher resolutions.

i expect the GTX 860M to be at the level of our GTX 770M

Maybe a smidge faster than the 770m so long as we don't get a gimped 6 series like the 660M.
-
If they come before feb 2014 then i go for it, else.. Got no other choice..

How much of a "hardcore gamer" are you right now? If you already think the 765M will fit your needs theres no reason to wait for the next gen GPU's.
-
the gtx 765m can be totaly outdated because of the next gen consoles, the graphics requirements are going up non stop..
-
765m should be ok for 720p, but 1080p it will likely struggle with releases in 2014.

765M should be fine up to 1600x900 going forward but it lacks the memory bandwidth and ROPs to really push to 1080p.
Wait for Maxwell or Pirate islands or just go with the 765m?
