Hi I am going to buy a sager np8662 from xoticpc.com and I was wondering which warranty, or if any should be purchased? I never get a warranty for any electronic devices because I usually take good care of them but this is pretty expensive so is it worth the extra cash. Xoticpc offers a basic warranty of 1 year parts from sager and 3 year labor from xoticpc itself but should I upgrade to a better one? I am just worried that something might go wrong with the laptop itself and I would like to be on the safe side. Any suggestions or information would be helpful. Thank you.

I'm also curious because I as far as I can see all the warranties besides the last one with LCD accident coverage look the same...

FWIW. I purchased the 3 yr Xoticpc warranty. I agree that I don't usually buy warranties for electronics but notebooks do get moved around and I think they may be more likely to need service. I suspect most members here do not purchase it as they are generally knowledgeable about performing repairs but for me I wanted to play it safe.

Oh no I will definitely get a warranty as well... Because the point is *&^$ happens lol, and people buy warranties to save themselves money if something does go wrong... even though I can replace the parts and put them in myself it's just a better idea to buy the warranty as a precaution.... The question is which one should I buy? :D

Do you mean Sager vs Xoticpc? From everything I have heard, Xoticpc offers superior us-based service. I am considering separate damage/theft/screen insurance.

Xoticpc sells both Sager warranty and their own warranty. You should talk to them and they will explain the difference.

I guess I will have to choose one since things do happen. However, has anyone ever had any problems with technical issues such as the video card dying or any sort of hardware malfunctioning? Also are the warranties voided if you overclock or add various hardware?

your warranty should not be voided if you add or upgrade your hardware... granted that you do it properly.

and overclocking the videocard has always been done and very rarely can void the warranty since it cannot be (or too time consuming to) proved.

as long as you monitor the temps during OC'ing, there should not be a problem.
