I guess the Clevo only title was too confusing for the masses. What do you think?
-
I was used to typing in "Sager" and then hitting enter to get to this forum, so I suppose I'm glad that they changed it back. -
i personally dont care, although sager sounds more popular than clevo because its just more well known

I was very used to the section being named Sager and we get a complete change over to Clevo. I knew what Clevo was but it was a little inconvenient this was sprung on us.
-
Just Clevo was the better, more logical choice.
People are naturally resistant to change; they would've gotten used to it eventually. -
What about "Clevo and Sager"? Subtle change and probably won't make much of a diff to most ppl but I think Sager should come after Clevo and Sager still gets recognized. The resellers in the description I think is fine as it is.
-
i mean.. they're ALL clevo systems... so as i voted, the best idea would prolly be a regular old Clevo forum for questions... then subforums for reseller related stuff...
-
I really don't care that much. I guess the decision was made becouse Sager is the only distributor in the US and this forum is mainly visited by US citizens. If Sager is not the only distributor in the US the title is then discriminatory, but then again maybe it's a issue for those other companies.

PS: I don't think this is an issue for forum users to decide really. Is more of an admin political issue then anything else. 99% US citizens buy from Sager on ene way or another (the only distributor), so if 99% of users of these forum are US citizens then we know who will win the naming (I guess that if Sager name is not there this forum would never be found) -
Well I, US citizen that I am, voted for Clevos with reseller sub-forums.
-
I think the world is not only about the US
I often wondered why it said "Sager/Clevo" instead of just Clevo
Sager also sells Compal if I'm not mistaken? And Xoticpc sells Sager, thus sells Clevo? So maybe it should be Xoticpc/Clevo and Sager/Compal? And I could make some more funny names, obviously
Main point: CLEVO makes the barebones, and Sager rebrands it and adds some stuff. Imo, it should hence be a CLEVO-forum. That there are different resellers within the forum, is fine by me. But the section itself should be CLEVO.
PS: since I ordered my Clevo from Rock, in the UK, can I suggest naming the forum Rock/Clevo? Or, since in the Netherlands, frielsandcomputers sells Clevo as well: Frieslandcomputers/Rock/Sager/Clevo?
I think my point is obvious by now -
i preferred the sager and clevo forum. but in the end, i could care less with what we eventually go with.
-
LOL! I panicked this morning when I went looking for the Clevo forum. I've been checking this forum out every day for awhile now as part of reading up on Clevo's as much as possible.
I'm bouncing back and forth right now b/t a 5790 and an HP dv9500; the issue is price...not which is the better machine.
Anyway, I enter the forums, and I'm scrolling down the NoteBook Manuf's list. "Clevo...Clevo...CLEVO? WTF happened to Clevo? Oh crap! Then went out of business!"
So...now I feel a bit...silly.
Doesn't matter to me what they call it; as long as the community/support is still here. -
Don't feel too silly. I was right there with you wondering WTF:wink:
-
I vote we stop changing it so people don't get more confused.
-
-
sager doesnt just sell Clevo..it also sells Compal...to have compal posts in the clevo forum wouldnt work, and it would be too much hassle to move all the 2090 posts to the compal forum...hence IMO, that is why it is back to sager and clevo. -
-
I think you guys are just screwing with me!
So I came here remembering that the forum was called Sager, though I do remember eventually its made by another company and there it is Clevo. Then today I log on and cant find Clevo, think maybe I have forgotten and misspelled its first letter, but see it back down at Sager and Clevo!
Anyways doesnt matter to me, however with Sager being the more popular and known name it would get the most attention listed as such. -
Where is the ProStar forum?
Or a "Trusted Resellers of NBR" forum, where people like Powernotebooks and XoticPC can answer questions specific to them, then post about new goodies they have, and inside info they sometimes share?

I believe that changing the name from Sager and Clevo to anything else would be a little too confusing. How would you distribute existing posts automagically?
There would be little gain IMHO, especially since no vendors seam to bother about it except maybe some users. I like the forum being populated with other things besides clevo, especially becouse those other things are unbranded brands too and gives me some information about what is going on in this type of market (Clevo, Compal, Arima).

I find it funny how people who know and work with computers, who grew up in or adapted to a fast-speeding, ever changing world, are voting to keep it the same, because they don't like change?
If you don't like change, you're in the wrong business (hell ... you're in the wrong era, but that's far less your fault)
-
We are in the business to make money with very little change as possible, becouse change costs money
. If money and time was of no concern then we wouldn't be in the business.

PS: Anyway, as I said before I like the name Clevo better. Maybe Clevo, Compal & Arima -
Kwakkel, as a coder who has made it to the point of writing a library, I can say that change is not always desirable. Change without purpose is a very bad thing. Any time you want to make a change to anything someone else might be using, you have to consider whether the benefit is worth any confusion or hassle you are presenting to your users.
Keep in mind that I'm not saying that you should always end up avoiding change. When the benefit is clear, one should usually make it without hesitation. Also, it is often a good idea to find out what the users think, as is happening right now in this lovely thread.
Addendum: A poll for a debate thread such as this would be more helpful if users could change their answers. Not that I would, but... -
bazald: of course changes aren't always good, but it's a fact that things change ... in these times, faster than before, and in ICT even more faster (is that correct English?
)
Hence my statement it's funny people are opposed to change because they simply don't like it. Imo, that's not a very good reason to oppose change. The way I see it, the change would be to correct something that's not right (Sager is completely different from Clevo, it's like saying Wallmart and Coca-Cola because Wallmart sells Coca-Cola). To, knowingly, support something that's wrong, just because "you don't like change" ... well, it doesn't make much sense -
i just dont see a point to changing something that has such little impact, and has a lot of work involved. but hey, thats just me and my coconut. -

Was Clevo forum too limited? Should it be Sager and Clevo :p
