It's not available anymore? First I wanted an NP5160, but they got rid of that, so I looked at the NP5165, and it was still within my budget (less than 1000), but now it's gone too and everything else is too expensive.

Have they been discontinued because Ivy Bridge is coming soon? (...but I heard IB was delayed until June...)

Is there any info on new models? I need the computer by the end of May, do you think they will be available by then?

Not sure about IB (we may hear something late next week), but if you need one sooner you can check out Mythlogic Computer's Pollux 1400 w/ i5-2520M (Clevo W150HXM which is a np5160). I cannot think of any other place offering these models still.

Even the NP8130 seems to be gone now. I'm hoping we hear something about the new models soon.

Looking at the sagernotebook website is pretty sad right now with just three models (one of which is a pre-order).

I guess we will all have to wait until CeBIT to see what is going on, if anything is announced at all for them.

The configuration I want at Mythlogic is expensive and goes over my budget :(

And, I didn't know about CeBIT, I don't really keep up with stuff like that. So we might hear something there next week? Okay, I'll wait to panic until then...

Also, is there any chance the new models might have backlit keyboards? I was kind of disappointed they didn't when I first heard about Sager.

From all that has been posted in these forums currently, SOME if not all models of the new line up should have backlit keyboards. It is not official yet, but there have been a few forum members that have made postings showing the alleged new models to have backlit keyboards.
Again, there may be something revealed at CeBIT next week, and I believe CeBIT is March 6 -9th if the website is correct...

Cool, hopefully one of the cheaper models will have backlit (I'm going to have a look around and see what people posted), that was really the only thing that I didn't like about them and had me considering other brands, but in the end nothing could really compare.

So it looks like new models have been released but do we think there might be more because these new models seem pretty expensive (starting at around 1000). And before Sager used to have about 3 models under the 1000 dollar price range.

I finally have the money now, but nothing to buy :( ....

We have not seen the replacement for the NP51XX models yet, just the NP81XX replacements.

Have patience and save that money, Sager/Clevo should be offering something "soon" if you are really interested in their brand of laptops.

Yeah, I'm kind of stressed at the moment (I'm moving which is why I need the laptop soon) and I'm kind of impatient too ...

Im new to the brand so I didn't recognize the NP81xx is different than the NP51xx and that theyll be replaced at different times.

Yea, be glad you didn't buy a NP5165 a month before the new models came out.

I'm confused, will the new refreshes have Ive Bridge right away? What's all this speculation and NDA fuss about, don't we know in general what to expect?

Also, any chance we might see a whole new 15" model from Clevo soon?

If you're still interested in the NP5165 looks like Sager has them back up, for now anyway.

They don't have 95% gamut screens though... Ugh...

And why would they be back up, new model delays? :(

Is nobody selling it with the 95% gamut screen?
It seems I've run out of time, I need to buy a laptop this week.
Also, is there any way to replace the screen, so I'll buy the laptop with the regular screen from Sager and then go and buy the 95% gamut myself? Or is that way to expensive?

I'm considering going over my budget and getting the NP8130 now... but it looks way thicker and heavier and probably has worse battery life (but I can sacrifice that). Anybody know if you can really notice the difference between the weights/thickness?

I have the np8130 and my wife has the np5160, the np8130 is about a pound heavier and they seem to be about the same bulk. You might try Malibal's Lotus series.

So if you hold them both, they seem about the same even though one is heavier (or are you saying the same size)? What exactly do you mean by bulk?

And the battery life is completely different isn't it?

And yeah, I was thinking of buying it from malibal and they have a rushed building/shipping option and different voltage cords for different countries which is nice.

By bulk I mean that the np8130 is slight bigger, but not by much. I prefer the cooling system on the np130 over np5160 (my wife system runs hotter even though I have a 580m). There are two heatstinks, one for the gpu and one for the cpu in the np8130, while the np5160 shares a heatstink for both the cpu and gpu. This may account for some of the extra weight and size between the two models.

    np8130
    6.83 LBs with Battery Pack
    14.80" (w) x 10.08" (d) x 1.38"~1.69" (h)

    np5165
    5.73 LBs with Battery Pack
    14.72" (w) x 9.84" (d) x 0.98"~1.46" (h)

Check out the ship date on the Pro-Star system: April 12, 2012.

Hmm... I think getting the NP8130 would be overdoing it though. I don't really need this for gaming, just photoshop, that's why I'm so concerned about the screen. And I'm concerned about the weight because if I carry this thing around it'll be with an Intuos tablet...

Mythlogic seems to have the NP5165 available, if the Pollux 1400 is the same thing (all these names are so confusing...)

They don't show the ship date though... but they have all the features I wanted (screen, color calibration, HDD caddy) a bit expensive though, but oh well.

Mythlogic has the Pollux 1400, but its based on the 540m gpu (np5160, not the np5165). Thier service is great and they are very helpful, if you contact them they might be able to find a 555m gpu (can't hurt to ask).

I use my system for Photoshop and CAD because of the screen, it was the biggest selling points when I got it. The base np8130 system will last slight longer than the np5165, and if you decide to ever upgrade you have more options with the np8130.

Well I originally wanted the NP5160, so that's fine. I just contacted Mythlogic and they were very helpful, but they are low on stock and unsure about ship date (at least two weeks) I don't really care about the GPU. Anything will be better than the crap Intel HD graphics my old computer had. And PS ran okay on that one. But with Mythlogic it is expensive, it might be cheaper to buy the Lotus... and faster...

I'm going to wait for Pro-Star to reply though. That were the cheapest by far.

So, Pro-Star contacted me back saying that the "pre-order discount" on their site was in fact a pre-order discount. They also said the ship date would be April 12th.

I asked them if the specs on their site were therefore incorrect or if those were the new specs (if I picked what I wanted, would I get that?), and they replied that they couldn't tell me due to a non-disclosure agreement, but I could call them (I'll be doing that today or tomorrow) I'm assuming this means new models SOON soon. Yes! But I feel a bit weird ordering the thing blind unless the specs on there are correct (which I don't think they are... the processor and graphics card look the same).

Wonder why nobody else has them up for pre-order...

Sager and resellers are in the same boat, see the XoticPC, Powernotebooks, LPC-Digital, etc. It seem every Sager dealer is under NDA, basically you could order from anyone of these sites. ETA for more information is Apirl 5th, but that is also when the discount is nolonger available. Basically, you're pre-ordering to get your place in line.

I contacted pro-star about the np5165. I know all the np81xx are available for preorder everywhere but not the np51xx. I know theyre all under nda but xotic pc for example has said they didn't get new models for the np51xx. From what I see only pro-star has them (np51xx) available for pre-order.

I think I'm going to call and pre-order, especially since I have a coupon for pro-star and I wanted to save money.

Why can't you order from Malibal? They have the p150HM and the P151HM in stock.
