    Greetings everybody,

I'm literally losing my mind with this issue, which has been tormenting me for the last few days. Looks like the camera is basically non-existent in the system, or better existent but recognized as an "Unknown USB device"... model is Clevo P170EM with Windows 8.

This is what I get from device management (or how the hell is called in english) whenever I turn on the camera with FN + F10 http://i.imgur.com/MozIpGQ.png . It's the USB symbol with the warning sign saying "Unknown USB device (request of the device descriptor (???) not successfull)"

When clicking on properties, this shows up http://i.imgur.com/IHgbeap.png I think you can get everything except for "Device's status", which says "The device has encountered a problem and has been shut down (Code 43).

I tried literally everything to sort this out, from any kind of driver re-install to even a clean OS re-install (had to do it regardless of the webcam), but nothing has turned out to be successfull.

Additional info: I can recall the webcam working fine the very first day when I got my laptop (around March), but since then I basically never used it.

    Any ideas?

I've ran into that code before. Means it down with and needs replacement.

You can try to see if there are any newer updates then the drivers you have now. You can get them from Sager here Software Upgrade.

It may need replaced, but you can try Hutsady's suggestion if you already have not tried said drivers. The webcams very seldom go bad, so it is more likely a software issue rather than hardware failure.
