I've heard the sager np5792 is very loud! Besides that, does it have any specific commonly known problems ?
Also, what is it's weight ?
-
-
Weight -> XoticPC's 5793's page. It's more than 3.5KG. That I believe without the power brick.
Try carrying two 2L bottles of water with you and you'll see how it feels like. -
Alright that's fine. And is the loudness bearable ? Any other well known issues ?
-
-
Its loud by modern laptop standards ... so i assume its not very loud at all.. people are used to almost quite laptops now.
im getting a NP5792 also btw...
is it true the only diference between the NP5792 motherboard and the NP5793 mobo is that the newer one has a flashed bios to suport the extream processor...
can a NP5792 be turned into a NP5793 via a bios update and a processor update?
would like to get a extream processor in 2years or so -
This is directly from Chaz's review:
That brings me to the complaints I have about the cooling system. While I said it functioned well - which it does, the notebook has no problems keeping cool - it has a lot of room for improvement in the acoustics area. The cooling system can be described with one word - loud. The NP5793 has one of the loudest cooling systems I have heard on a notebook. At low speed/idle, the noise level is audible but acceptable. However, once an application is started that uses the processor and/or graphics card, the noise level increases substantially, and the machine can be heard across a decent-sized room.
Hope that helps. -
Thanks! I've always been with desktops that I've built... really cheap ones with crappy cooling systems. And it's always loud. If as Heathkidd said that people find it loud since they're used to quiet laptops, then that's fine because I've never had a laptop and always been around loud desktops. So I guess it should be okay.
-
Heathkidd the 5793 has a different case and it's what you get when you order it with a 8800M GTX. A 5792 will never be able to become a 5793 without hardware modifications, but the difference is not that big. Make sure you get the 5793.

The official 5793 release will be done when the X9000 Processor is released. At the present time, as long as you order the 8800, you will get the "5793". (Casing and cooling).
-
-
It doesn't matter as you'll get it anyway.

We haven't received final confirmation from Intel yet, but anticipate we should know something soon.
-
my 5792 was quite
and my 5793 is quite
people just like to complain about something
myself included
i use a backpack to carry it -
trying to work out if this
http://www.pioneercomputers.com.au/products/configure.asp?c1=3&c2=15&id=2249
will be a 5793 mobo + case and cooling.. im ordering a 8800M GTX with it.. does that require the casing a cooling? and if it gets casing and cooling will it get the 5793 mobo that can have a 2.8 45 in it etc
kind of wana get a 2.8 X off ebay in a year or so -
The 5793 is the Clevo M571RU-U. So you should all ask for the Clevo's equivalent. Ask if they use that barebone or not.
-
M571RU-U is silver
M570RU-U is orange right? -
Yes, my mistake. Anyway, get the M57xRU-U. Whatever it pleases you (silver or orange).
-
Okay I guess if nothing comes up by 20th of next month, I'll buy the NP5792 with the 5793 casing from XoticPC on that day or so.
-
Besides some price cuts (which I tend to believe that woun't happen) and the M17x, I believe that nothing that is addressed to gamers will be released
-
probably a dumb question.... -
I don't know, I guess it will be more expensive, but who knows. Anyway, it will cost more than the 5793 for sure.
Don't compare the M15x to the 5793, as they're different. If you want a 15" pick the Alienware, if you want a 17" pick the Sager (which also has better CPUs, the Penryns). But if you need more than one HDD or need SLI wait for the M17x. Your choice. -
Either way, I can't afford AW. Just too crazy expensive! And now it's increased even more, and considering I can only have them deliver from the UK site for 207 Euros renders AW out of question, and a "non-option" for me (If that's supposed to sound right
).
-
If you live outside Europe and don't have VAT where you live you woun't pay it, so...
-
And me happy
-
Good for you!
-
Mecha , you seem to have the perfect Sager 579x. Good for you.
Whatever.
I`ll weigh the laptop tomorrow and tell you exactly how much it has, with/without the powerbrick. -
its like 8 pounds with power brick
-
No, more like 9.5 lbs.
-
I`ll weigh it tomorrow and give you EXACT figures, although any sager 579x user could easily do this.I`m guessing 8.5-9 pounds,as an initial estimate.
-
8.5 without the brick, more like 9.5 with it. NotebookCheck said that the weight is 4.12 KG, 9.1 pounds, but I don't know, it seems too heavy. Sager says something about 8.5 lbs.
-
I don`t care what notebookcheck said, I have one and should know better than anyone just throwing guesses around. Unless the 8800M GTX is 1 pound heavier than the 7950GTX, which I DOUBT, 4.12 kg sounds like a load of...
-
It's at least 8.4 lbs (3.8KG) without the brick, according to XoticPC.
-
Thanks guys! Now for a careful average responsible user like me, would the sager last a good 4 years (not gaming), but simply survive that long without dying ?
-
It will survive if you take care of it (not like taking care of a baby, but make sure you don't throw it, don't drop it or don't use it as a paper weight), but for the gaming part I can't really answer. Nobody knows what's going to happen tomorrow, not talking about 4 years from now. It will last 2 year without a problem, after 4 years you will still be able to play games on it, but not on high (I'd say medium, or medium -> low after 3 years or so).
-
Allright, the laptop is about 3.5 Kg without the power brick and about 4-4.05 with the power brick. It`s not heavy for me , but might be an issue for some people.
3.5kg=7.7 pounds(if my 0.45kg=1 pound math is correct) and therefore the powerbrick is just a little over a pound.
Total = some 8.7-8.8 pounds.
Video of the fans will show up later on, as soon as I find my camera.
PS: 1000th POST -
It's 8.3 lbs without the brick according to XoticPC. How can yours be so light?
-
I don`t know, but that`s what the scale says. And my HP nx9420 is 3.1 Kg. So that makes my measurements pretty much ok.
Now, I could be off, but not with more than 1 pound TOTAL. -
Novatech says 3.95KG with the battery.
They have a sale on the more expensive T7700 model, for around 1250UK (around 1700E). Take it if you can, it's a great deal! -
So basically it's around 4KG. That's perfectly fine. I have to go back to one of my old questions, which I'm confused about again.
Matte or glossy screen ?.. price isn't a concern there. But for gamers, what's the better choice ? I also didn't clearly understand the difference other than "more vibrant colours with the glossy screen" which doesn't really clear up anything. -
Dude,I`m uploading a movie about fan noise and the end is all about the screen. WUXGA glossy. Wait until it`s uploaded and see for yourself how the screen is.
-
Glossy screens are best for movies and games, because the colors look more lively so to speak. Matte screens are best for outdoors situations.
-
FACT: no matte screen is as bright as a glossy, unless it`s either expensive or some notorious brand. Glossy are vivid, bright, vibrant and super clear.
-
Okay that confirms it... glossy then!
-
i wish they had 1920x1200 matte.. i use a 24inch dell thats matte.. hate glossy scrn horrible for a workplace with strong lights/etc...
i assume its just a glossy as glossy macbookpros? -
As stated, just wait until I finish uploading that movie.
-
-
If you recieve the 5793 with the fan firmware upgrade, the Fn+1 setting runs the computer at a low fan RPM and still keeps the laptop fairly quiet, unless you're in a library or something, then nothing is quiet.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z-c12iKWB4 movie uploaded. You can view screen quality at the end of the movie also...
All FN+x modes tested. -
