    Hey,

I always leave my laptop plugged in overnight and I set it to hibernate. This morning when it was booting it started beeping. Loud quite longly spaced beeps. It got as far as my password screen in windows and then switched itself off. (it booted to windows alright)

I unplugged everything, except for the power cord, which did not help, I still got this beeping and shutting down after about 30 or so seconds.

I tried turning it on only using the battery and - it works. No beeping, no shutting down randomly after a short time. So I guess my powerpack is broken?

well the even weirder thing is, when it is turned ON and I put the power pack in, it doesnt complain. Just charges the battery and keeps working.

I am confused, can someone suggest what might be wrong with my laptop?

    thanks

That's the critical battery sound. You might not have plugged it in properly. The first time I got that sound, I was cooking something and had the recipe on the laptop in my dining room. Thought something caught on fire or something :D

Might be overheating, beeps mean anything from mobo failure to battery issues.
Check your temps also, and reseat the battery.

I remember I had some beeps also with my ex-RU...but reseating the battery took care of`em.
