i know that there is one other thread, but its not that clear at all...
i have tried to look, but dont know anything about it.
i have only looked at this http://www.guruofgaming.com/modules....ewtopic&t=2202
it says something about having Quad core and 9800M GTX SLI.
but i want to know the details of it
1. who makes it?
2. when is it released?
3.where can we buy it
4.how much will it be?
5.any pictures of it
6.does it have an illuminated keyboard
7.how is it compared to the sager 5796
8.any previous models made by the same manufaturer?
and anything else that anyone knows would be great.
im looking at this because i want something with the power of the sager 5796, but be able to have SLI support, with an illuminated keyboard and a glossy look.
thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure that a Whitebook is just a customizeable or barebone notebook.
-J.B. -
2.September (me thinks, what I have read)
3.OCZ know as the whitebook (no hdd, no RAM, and something else), digital storm, killernotebooks, maybe alienware
4.1800 base price
5. http://laptoppicker.com/?start=30 took me awhile to find the pic....follow the link.
6.yes, from what I could tell from the pics.
7.???
8. M860 from voodoo pc, ocz diy 15in, m9750 alienware, and more I'm sure. -
Your link is truncated, so I'm not sure what the article would have said.
Jstn7477 is right. A whitebook is a partially assembled, barebones computer.
There is a laptop manufacturer called Whitebooks.com, though. Perhaps you mean them? -

Whitebook looks like AW!

i think he's referring to this thread: http://www.guruofgaming.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2202

yea lol... i dont know why it aint working and thanks mrblur.
ok so a reseller will take it and build it themselves? the link from nirvana, the three at the top in the pic is what i would like to buy, i just dont know witch on though. id like to buy it with ram and memory and everything else of course.
so your saying that maybe alienware will take this and sell it as their own with their specs?? ( and 3000$ overpriced of course) sorry im a little lost with this one. -

well like eureocom or killernotebooks then?
also, the backlit keyboard looks a little dull... will it be or is it just the pics. and will we be able to change the colours of the keyboard? -

I do not think its quad-core compatible... yet.
that news [for Montevina notebook] was speculation that was recently shown to be inaccurate.
the platform after Montevina would be getting the quad-cores.
They is a very slim chance to get the quad-cores for Montevina, for both price and Intel timeline. -

ahhhhh.... theres so many things to think about when getting a laptop. i really want the sager 5796, but then therese these comming out (but not to canada) then the new alienwares, the new dells, quad core comming out for lappys, dual 9800M GTX SLI... like come on! i really want the laptop next week, but i want an alienware, but not the ones that are out now, but that means waiting more than a month than that means not having it now than that means spending more than 3,000$
ahhhh headache -
def. go for the whitebook, dual GPU, dual HDD, with just 1.5" thickness. if it doesn't come with quad core eventually like Gophn said, then i am switching to lenovo W700.
-
Montevina notebooks will probably not have quad-core until 2009... and by then the next platform will probably be debuted.
These mobile platforms turnover pretty quick. -

yea im thinking about it... but to customize it , and since i live in canada, itll probably be over 3,000... which is over my budget by about 700$. and since im only 16, i gotta get it out of my parents to order online in canada, nevermind the US. there the ones that say o just get it at bestbuy, or get an apple(i would never)
and since were on the topic of mobile product life, how long do u think the 9800M GTX will last in todays market in the 5796(mantaining graphics around medium detail levels in game) -
the 9800M GTX is not even out yet.
but high-end videocards seem to last longer than mid-range ones... for future games.
my 7800GTX still performs as well as a 9600M GT.
thats about two generations in difference. -
And yes you can change the color on the keypad, red, blue and yellow or white.I think.
I am sure the picture does not do it any justice. -
Until a consumer actually has one of these lappies in their hands and posts a review with pictures, I would not trust any of them.

tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
so ive been looking at this one and really like it, since it has SLI capabillities and a backlit keyboard and is just as powerful, if not more, than the sager 5796... do you know of any resellers that will take it and rebrand it as their own in canada?? ( where i can add the RAM, HD, GFX card, wireless etc) ??
-
As for the whitebook, give it some time. Its press release was only a month ago, which means we are probably 3-4 months away from seeing it in consumers hands if we are lucky. Heck, there is a good chance the press release was just hype and it will never see the light of day, but I hope it does come out soon.
What Is The Whitebook???
