Why doesn't the primary hdd for my np9262 have these ports on it? Does it matter? Cuz I'm going to dual-buat vista and xp and I decided to do that instead of a clean install (to those who know about my sound issues).

the right hand ones is where you plug in the psu and the little pins are the pin configuration. its used to say set the system to main or slave drive
-
firstly that is a 3.5" desktop hard drive and the far right port is a legacy power connector. You can use either that one (molex) or the standard (far left) sata power connector - DO NOT USE BOTH. The other pins are the legacy master/slave/cable select/other drive parameter selection jumpers (usually unused when using sata)

yeah what he said better.

yea i was gonna say... u didnt notice that was for desktops? lol

No.... I'm not as tech savvy as most here. I think that may be WHY I'm here. I just got my first notebook. I thought hdd's were universal. MY BAD.
Thank you for your input Helio and theriko. -
Don't worry about it, at least you got the right notebook to begin with, unless those ridiculous fools who overspent on the z1A vaio.

Jesus. I just looked it up. I'm glad I know enough to see what an overpriced bs laptop that is.
Maybe its not good that I got this one as a first. I'll never be wowed by another notebook lol. -
