    Ive had Seagates crash in a year....
    Ive had Hitachi's catch on fire....

    I like Seagate's and Hitachi's.

    I have used both for my notebook... solid... although Seagate's are a bit quieter.

    WD has been pretty good in my experience. My 80gb segate is dying before my older wd 10 gb is! Also have a 320gb wd hd.

    Seagate and Hitachi are my preferred brands. WD's higher end stuff is okay for me, but I haven't used them much for HDD needs. I refuse to purchase Samsung HDDs, since the only ones I have ever had trouble with were Samsung.

    Ahh... I apologize, I did not mean to make light of such a terrible situation. :eek: I have tons of digital pictures as well, mostly of my 3 y.o. daughter, :D and I would be devastated if I lost them all (my wife still doesn't understand why I've squirrelled away multiple copies on multiple drives and CDs, go figure :rolleyes: ).
