Aside from the ram and hard drives, those are kind of self-explanatory, what can this thing sport? The gpu can fit a 8800, 9800, 260 and all of it's precursors, is Clevo planning on having this machine work with future 10th generation nvidia cards (280, 290, etc)? What about CPU's? A 15 inch laptop can only supply so much power to the components, is a 44watt CPU pushing it?

It has been shown that Clevo only develops for the existing technology and ONLY if the new hardware uses the existing technology then the component can go in the laptop, otherwise, there will be a revision and thus your laptop reaches only as far as that.

To give you insight into their development process, the 579X went through 5 revisions to the point it is at 5797 now.

The ONLY things you can count on are the options that are made available for it currently - if something else is added to the mix at a later date, that'd be nice, but you'd be better off buying this bridge I have in Brooklyn before you start counting on being able to upgrade to something that hasn't become available yet.

Any Montevina CPU, current or future, can fit in this notebook. This includes all Core 2 Quads, which have been proven to work all the way up to the QX9300.

That's still a limited range of upgrades; it also doesn't take into account whether or not a particular CPU is supported by Clevo - once you go out on a limb by yourself, you are literally out there by yourself and if you break something while you're out there, you have only yourself to look to for fixing/replacing whatever broke.

So unless you're highly rich or highly adventurous, best not bust out on most of those QC's until the warranty's up. :p

I pray for the day laptops will be just as upgrade-friendly as desktops. *sigh*
