    Hi Guys,

Heard from my friends recently that if I would to Change my current HDD (with My Windows ultimate on it) That came with my NP7280 to an new SSD later stage,

I would need to email Microsoft to deactivate my Product key* or something on my current HDD, and wait for them to send me a new Key to install My Copy of Windows 7 Untimate on my New SSD?

    I'm confused

Windows can be activated over the internet (i.e. normal way). Usually if you only change a hard disk then you shouldn't have any problems with re-activating online.

If for any reason it fails you will choose to activate over the phone. You will call the number that you'll be given (depending on the country that you choose), go through the recorded instructions and if all goes well you'll be given a confirmation ID. Again if for any reason it fails it will connect you to a phone operator and you'll need to explain to him why you need to re-activate your Windows license. If you say something like the hard disk crashed and had to be replaced he should give you the confirmation ID.

You will have to re-activate/transfer your retail license only if you change the laptop/motherboard.
I don't think you will not have to deal with this just by changing the SSD/HDD.
