    ---

I plan to an extra 1G DDR3 memory to get 3 GB for my 32 Bit system as well as get a better sound card as I can find a cheaper ferson of the Creative Labs 7.1 sound card on newegg. It is a shame that the import costs are going to be outrageous. :(

So what do you guys think? :D

2GB is good already... especially if you plan on using XP.

    definitely a high-end spec'ed system there. :)

It totaled to $2040 USD on xoticPC. I am unsure if I should use XP or Windows Vista with SP3 for best gaming performance.

EDIT: I just noticed that XP also has service pack 3. I like the features of Windows Vista, but I believe Windows XP would give me better performance. Hmm, I wonder what to choose. :p What do you guys think?

I am still mainly using XP on all of my systems, its just got less bloat and great performance.

Vista x64 is stable and is fine as long as you have enough resources, good CPU and at least 2GB of RAM.

If I do get Vista I plan to optimize its performance by getting rid of useless processes. :p I will be sure to test both out. :D

Also, is xoticPC willing to haggle? My dad won't be back from his business trip until Mid-September. I will probably order the laptop a week after that. He promised me that he would get me the Gateway P-Series Notebook, the one for $1,500 USD base price because it was a good deal, but I really want this. Once he sees this is for 2,000 USD, he will say it is a bit expensive. Though when he sees that the import costs and shipping to Canada combined are going to be around 200 - 300 USD, I don't even think he will consider getting it. :(

Xoticpc is already selling their systems at the lowest price out there already so don't expect a whole lot except for maybe free shipping for a student discount.

Yes, you're right. I guess I can't expect much since many of these components are quite knew and I heard that they will not go down in the price in the nest 2 - 3 months.

Eurocom was my first choice, but it very expensive. I may try and call them and see if they will match their price with xoticPC of $2040 USD.

    Hello.

I have some comment for your configuration:

    1. DRR3 is not recommedable for now beacuse is expensive and the performance is not diffenrence with DDR2. see this link
    http://www.breakitdownblog.com/ddr2-800-vs-ddr3-1333-does-speed-matter/

    2. If you only use the laptop for gaming, only gaming, clock speed is very important, but you core is 2.4GHz, and if you saw the previous link (about DDR3) i recommend you a Quadcore, Q6600 2.4GHz, but this core is available in sager NP9262.

    3. I am a very demading user, and i dont need much GBs in my hard drive, so i will buy a 160GB or 200GB 7200rpm Serial-Ata II 8-16mb chache hard drive.

this is just a comments but think about DDR3, i think that we need wait for faster and cheap DDR3, because his performance with 1333MHZ bus is same that DDR2 -800, so...

And XoticPC is very recommendable store

Thanks for your feedback. The SAGER that I customized only offers DDR3 memory. The reason I chose the 5k320 over the 7k200 is because it is the same in speed and has more storage. This is the only setup I could do where I can get a good computer for under $2000. Maybe I should try a different model with DDR2 Memory.

EDIT: Wow, DDR3 shows absolutely no difference. I think I will have to look at other models. All I want is a SINGLE high-end card.

After finding out that DDR3 Memory is not worth it, I decided that I would have a similar setup by customizing the NP9262. Now, It is a little bit more in cost, but I got a 3.16 Ghz Dual Core instead of the 2.4 Ghz. Quite a difference if you ask me. I was going to choose the 2.4 Ghz Quad Core, but I was unsure if the games I would be playing would be compatible with it. Here is my new setup.

This is from powernotebooks this time.

SAGER NP9262 Ultimate Custom Laptop (Built on Clevo D900C / D901C)
    - 17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
    - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
    - Standard Dead Pixel Policy
    - ~Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz w/ 6MB L2 Cache - 1333MHz FSB
    - 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 9800M GT DDR3 DX10 (User Upgradeable)
    - ~ 2,048MB DDR2 800 (1 SODIMM) Memory
    - ~Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW 5x DVD-RAM 24x CD-R/RW Drive w/Softwares
    - ~ 320GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 8MB Cache)
    - HDD Raid Settings - OFF
    - Internal 7-in-1 Card Reader (MS/MS Pro/MS Duo/MS Pro Duo/SD/Mini-SD/MMC/RS)
    - Internal Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR
    - Built-in Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11 a/g/n
    - Built in 2.0 Megapixel Camera
    - Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio - Included
    - Basic Black Business Case - Included
    - Smart Li-ion Battery (12 Cell)
    - 3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Based Toll Free Tech Support
(Year2 & 3 Labor Warranty through Xotic PC)

This PC will cost 2,218.39 USD before shipping and import taxes. This is a $178.39 increase in price for a better proccessor. Is it worth it? I am still searching for a notebook which is under $2000 USD but includes a 9800 GT and DDR2 memory.

regardless how "useless" it is, you can't use DDR2 on 5796
I disagree, let's compare my stock T8300 2.4ghz to X9000 3.2 ghz, for CPU intensive games like FSX, it will give me no more than extra 4fps.
if you have enough knowledge, you should know that 7k200 = 5k320 in terms of speed, not mentioning 5k320 also got extra 120GB of space.
there will be no "faster ram", DDR3-1066 is the only one they use. lower latency maybe.

I just used the same config for the NP5796 and I think xoticPC and Powernotebooks lowered their prices. I got the laptop for 1980 USD! Under $2000! :D
