Continuous beeping and the CAPS and NUM lock indicators flash simultaneously in time with the beeping. It starts some time after POSTing but never at the exact same spot and then automatically shuts down after about 30 seconds.

It is a M860TU. Only found one thread describing the same error pattern which suggested it was a HDD temperature fail safe so I'm just looking for verification.

I had just swapped my video card. Any suggestions? No artifacts during the boot up and the problem is now present with the original card as well, so I'm guessing I accidentally disturbed something during the install but I can't think what.

Not sure on the older models but triple check all of your fan connectors.

There's only one fan (connector) and it spins up as normal.

A continuous beep is typically indicative of a RAM or GPU problem (depending on the motherboard). Check that your RAM is seated correctly since you've already swapped GPU's.

It's not a single continuous tone but a constant arrhythmic beep beep beep and the caps and num lock indicators flash in sync with the beeping.

I've found reports of similar problems where all three indicators flash simultaneously, or a different combination of two indicators so it sounds like a pretty standard Clevo mechanism. I'm surprised there's no sort of documentation to explain what the different combinations mean.

The flashing caps lock and num lock indicators would be indicative of overheating or the cooling fans not working.

The beeping may be indicative of something wrong with the GPU.

A combination like you are getting...might be something else, but you may want to double check everything.

Which temp sensors feed into the flashing indicator warning system?

    CPU, GPU, HDD? Northbridge?

OK well I've tried swapping the VGA, CPU, RAM and removing the HDD.

The only thing I've been able to work out so far is that the error only starts when the fan is programmed to kicked in. The fan still spins up and the error still occurs when the fan isn't connected (but again only after a suitable delay once the machine has "warmed up" enough to start the fan")

Can anyone help me narrow it down?

    I had the same problem.

Suddenly num lock and caps lock started flashing, whilst an alarming sound came from the speakers. After about 30 seconds the machine shut down completely.

However, I managed to fix it by unscrewing the panel underneath the machine and attaching the power cable to the left (when seen from underneath). I believe this is the GPU fan. The cable was partly loose, probably due to transportation in a bike basket.

    Now everything is all good.
