    Hey guys,

I've noticed the new revision of the M860TU that supports quad core. Now I've heard ppl say they can't go to quad if they have the old revision..
But what exactly is different? Bios? motherboard?

I'm asking this cuz eurocom always offered the three quads, well at least since I started checking out the M860TU ( 1-2months ago).

So what did they do exactly to be able to have a quad in there?

Main issue is the mother board. New one is needed for quad support but only a bios upgrade is needed for the new GPU.

How exactly did eurocom install some quads on the old motherboard then? Could the ones here with the old revision still get the quads?

Eurocom never installed quads in the old motherboard, they just put the quads up for preorder way before everyone else.

eurocom been saying that since a year ago, even before the np866 0 came out. I'd take their word as BS.

So what about the Q9100 and QX9300 with the new revision.. they still aren't officially supported by clevo, but eurocom offers them both.

They aren't officially supported with the new revision but you can run them with no problem.

Look at XoticPC's web site, if they say it's supported, it is supported.

It's not supported by Xoticpc? Maybe they shouldn't be listing a Q9000 as a CPU option for the machine then.

(I assume it is supported and the above is incorrect).

edit: Oh wait, you mean the higher quads? :) That makes more sense. Yeah, afaik, the higher quads require too much energy and/or run too hot for this machine - I assume the latter, so improving cooling on the cpu would work.

I have asked some resellers about the Q9100 and they said that although it was not officially supported by Sager, if I wanted it then they would install it in the NP8662 and thoroughly test it hopefully giving it their approval.

However, after seeing the cost of the Q9100, I didn't bother. I will stay with the Q9000 for now.
