I have a sager 5791 with a 7950 GTX. I am looking all over for cards to replace what i have and i have come accross a few. I'm getting different answers from different sources and i'm trying to get on the right page.

My first question is whether a 8800 GTX will work. I have read of people putting them in the system without the motherboard upgrade, resulting in the standby issue, which i believe you can get by.

My second question is whether ATI cards work? I figured that an ATI MXM module would fit, but would it work?

    Any help would be great.

As you've found, the 8800M should work in your system, but with the sleep issue; if you want more info on that topic, I'd suggest sending a pm to NBR member Zfactor whom, if I recall correctly, did a lot of checking up on this particular issue.

ATi cards will not work (not, at least, to my knowledge - they've never been designed for the system and notebook cards are not (yet) as modular as desktop cards are).

afaik the sleep issue was fixed by bios 1.00.08, so as long as you have somewhere between that and bios 1.00.11 (and a relevant kbc/ec firmware to go with it) then you're fine
