This is for owners of NP5790... Personally I bought a laptop for an astonishing (for my pocket) $2100 (approx) so I can customize it. Yet I had a thought just now...Most of you probably read Justin's post that Sager is trying really hard to have 8-series working on 5790... what if...it won't happen..then what will we do, huh? will be using our 7950GTX for next couple of years, but when the need for 8-series will be serious...we be stuck after spending 2 grand on a laptop? what do you do with your old laptop....Just a thread for ideas, opinions and what not...

The 8700M GT is listed in the M570RU user manual : [IMG]
So I'd think it's pretty likely that it will eventually end up in there. Unfortunately though, I don't think it will really be worth it since the Go 7950 GTX will more than likely still be more powerful. See my post here for a novel way to "preview" the relative performance of the Go 7950 GTX and 8700M GT.

We won't see a real enthusiast DX10 card until an "8800M" is released - and there's no guarantee that it will fit within the heat/power envelope of the M570RU, or even if it's coming at all.

I'm wondering too. Hopefully soon. :D

From what I've read there will almost certainly be at least the 8700M GT card by the Fall and I don't even anticipate needing to upgrade until well after the first of the year, if ever. It's just nice to know that I can when some more DX10 games arrive. In the meantime, I'm sure the NP5790 with the 7950 GTX will be more than adequate.

Now it seems that 8700gt seems to be a big flop, maybe I should of took a plunge couple of weeks ago.

Eurocom is getting their shipment on the 15th. Takes 3 to 5 days to build, and then shipping after that :D .

Exactly. (except for the "if it's coming at all part. Of course it is. Gaming notebooks are all the rage and Nvidia's not going to let DAMMIT (AMD/ATI) encroach on that turf.)

Hey has anyone seen the DX10 demo video of World in Conflict? At least for me, it seems a big enough reason to wait. Trouble is, fooking Vista being slower and all. Hopefully SP1 will be out and address some of these issues.

My bad. I should have provided a link. Thought interested parties would google "DX10 world in conflict."

Anyway, here's a discussion about the E3 DX10 version of World in Conflict. Includes links to DX10 demo.

You mean, when you meant beta you meant playable demo.

In any event, when the game is released it will be released with DX10 features that only a DX10 card with Vista can access. DX9 cards under Vista or XP will not have these features.

Hey this sucks... have a look here:

True, provided that you bought Win XP with it. If not then... there's always OEM versions of XP for sale @ newegg.

I actually got Vista =/, the performance difference in games in XP vs. Vista can't be THAT bad.

No, not THAT bad. Marginal difference in some cases. Big in others. Start with these.
