Hi everyone. I'm sure this maybe a stupid question but what is the difference between Sager and Clevo? Sometimes I see both of them for model numbers, other times I'll only see either one of them. I see just below the advertisment that is says "Clevo is perhaps not widely known, but their products are re-branded and sold by many known boutique brands". Xoticpc has a remove Sager logo option so I'm kinda confused by the forums statement.

Clevo is an ODM, they design and manufacture the laptop.

One of the most known companies that sell and rebrand these machines is the Sager.

    I've made a post about this before @ http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/654978-so-what-makes-sager-so-special.html
    Enjoy

Okay. So Clevo is kinda like Nvidia, they design the products and other companies take those designs and sell them or adjust and sell them. I know Nvidia doesn't sell video cards by themselves though.

You can sort of say that... kinda, in a twisted way :p

Clevo ONLY manufactures design, barebones, nothing else :) all hardware is advice-able and bought separately.

    Kind of...
nVidia and AMD essentially make the chip and send it with minimum requirements (reference design), and companies like EVGA or Sapphire design the PCB and the thermal solution to work with what was given to them to fit those minimum specifications and may add additional items (# of DVI ports out for example).

Clevo creates the chassis, mainboard, and GPU if I'm not mistaken and then Sager installs the CPU, drives, memory, etc, but in addition Sager can influence certain decisions in design as well with Clevo.

No that would be Nvidia or AMD that create the GPU, they only create the case and motherboard.

nVidia/ATI provide the graphics chip, which is the heart and core of your display. This chip is then used by Clevo on a board with a proprietary design, such as in the case of XFX or other vendors for desktop cards.
