Anyone know what the latest BIOS is for the M860TU/NP8662? I'm trying to determine if I need to upgrade, my current revision is listed as "1.02.16S LS1" with KBC/EC rev at "1.00.12".

From a few previous threads I gather Clevo doesn't make their BIOS's readily available, however Sager has provided an update here: http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=driver_download2#
    Listed as "V 2.17s/1.00.13 firmware"
It seems like an update, but how can I be sure it is for my system? Is it worth flashing it?

I had seen that thread before, but the version numbers are cryptic:
I'm confused, is this supposed to be 1.02.17? I did notice the file linked for the Sager-branded BIOS is the same as I found above (the Clevo link is dead), but the date is Nov 2009; my NP8662 was purchased Dec. 09, so now I'm left wondering which is newer. Guess I'll try the Sager 2.17s/1.00.13, hope I don't brick anything.

    The versions are the same.
If you don't want the Sager brand display when booting, go for the Clevo one :

    ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M86xTU/EC_13.zip
    ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M86xTU/BIOS_217.zip

Update the EC first then the BIOS

And about the date, it's quite normal, buying your model in Dec. 09 doesn't mean that it was manufactured just recently, it could be from an older stock.

Thanks for those! Clevo definitely does a good job at hiding that link, and the ISO Sager provides is a dud (mounted in Daemon tools, it's completely empty!). I also e-mailed Justin @ Xotic asking for the latest BIOS they use, I'll go ahead with these and update the thread if he gets back to me.

The iso from sager is fine, the files are in the bootsector and so not visible from windows. Boot from it and it will work fine.

It's always best to go to the company you purchased the laptop from to get BIOS, whether it's from an older model or for a new one - your supplier will be able to tell you which the latest ones are and confirm that they are fully supported :)

Please update to the lastest EC first. Otherwise, you'll brick your machine.

    This is mandatory.

Thanks guys, just to let everyone know, I went ahead with the upgrade to 1.02.17/1.00.13 using pkhetan's links provided above then proceeded to install Win7 Pro and Fedora 12. Everything's running smoothly (after some headaches making a boot usb naturally).

JustinW contacted me back to say I needed to contact Sager with a serial key; however I'm not going to bother as I'm pretty sure pkhetan's link is the latest.
