I'm wondering who is pushing for ultra wide laptop displays that you can't see in the light these days? Weren't we all happy with 1920x1200 matte finish screens? I mean yah, there was that ONE lappy with the 16:9 for the movie lovers...but for everything?
I know one thing about 16:9, it's that or nothing. At least with my 16:10 I can run 4:3 resolutions and not have a cow about it, but with 16:9 you can forget ever being able to have that option. Making us get glossy with NO option of matte is somewhat puzzling also, I had 2 laptops with matte and absolutely loved them, and one with glossy and never did get over the reflections.
I never had ANY issues with the screen not being " vibrant enough " with my matte screens yet, glossy is supposed to make my gaming experience more colorful or something? Colorful my shoe, more like an annoying mirror that I can see lights and people walking behind me in.
I want to know how you all feel about this, maybe you can shed some light for me? but I know I passed up the laptop I actually wanted ( the 8690 ) and bought the pricey Np9280 ( and I'm now like 400 overbudget ) due to the 1920x1200...but honestly I am just afraid that if I got the 1080p that I would be screwed on certain games, especially older games. The Np9280 looks like a giant brick, I like it, but I don't. Clevo usually makes sleek brushed aluminum laptops that are clever, conservative, and just plain good looking. The new 8690/8760 are sleek, but the 9280 I know has been going around for 3-4 years as the 9750, the 9260/62 and now the 9280. I know the cooling system is unrivaled though, and the build quality from what I hear is great too ( I'm still awaiting It's delivery ).
Also they replaced the Np579x series ( which I adore ) for that 8760 with of course the 16:9 ratio! We're just going to have to buy 16:9 and like it apparently... Were 4:3 laptops available at the time when 16:10 became the new " thing " or was 4:3 shut out just like 16:10 is now?
What is up with 16:9 glossy?
