I'm running X9000 (no OC, sitting at 2.8ghz), Vista Ult 64bit SP2.
Fresh install SP1, up to SP2, minimal additions -> 40 deg cel (compared to XP32 SP3 loaded to hell, but idle .. also about 39-41 deg cel)
Added Aero, up a degree or so, not too bad.
Added Avast AV and sitting 42-46 with spikes to 48 or so, at idle.
Seems like Avast is my main temperature culprit.
With an M570RU is 50 deg an okay temp to rest at all the time?
What are your unloaded idle CPU temps with Vista 64?

I have x9100, so it should be similar. The core temperatures are 32-34C and ACPI CPU is 40-42C (according to Everest Ultimate). I'm running windows 7 x64 (build 7100), but with Vista x64 it was about the same.
Oh yes, and I also have Avast running. -
BTW, I have VRDB disabled in Avast.

Thanks; 5796 have any better cooling? Its probably fine, but running mid-to-high 40 celsius sort of annoys me; I really loved running at 39-40. I can't imagine how you got 32
I forget what "VRDB" stands for offhand; I had it disabled in my XP-side, though, I recall that. I'll have to check.
I ended up picking up another drive (320GB WD, 16MB cache, 7200rpm for $70CDN) so I could do a fresh Vista install (fed up trying to shrink/grow parts, all the tools failing :/) .. fresh Vista 64 install is rnning much cooler, but still a few degree's hotter than XP32 SP3.
(Yes, I could suck down Win7 RC, but figured I'd just go Vista 64 then upgrade to Win7 64 GA.)
Aside: I forgot how much a pain it was to move from one windows to another. (Personal data spread all over the place, and I'm very anal about where things go.. the apps aren't :/)

VRDB is something like a recovery record that Avast creates for for all files it scans. It usually updates the database while idle or with screensaver. I just disabled it (right-click the avast icon, it's right there: VRDB)
Regarding the cooling: I'm using a cooler stand, but I doubt it affects idle temperatures much (maybe 1-2 degrees).
I don't know if M570TU has better cooling than M570RU, but again, I doubt that idle temperatures would be affected that much... Maybe you are looking at ACPI CPU temperatures? Mine is 42C, so then the difference with your system is only a few degrees (can be explained by my cooler stand), and I woulnd't worry about that.
What is your Vista 64 unloaded cpu temps?
