How do I make sure my new laptop doesn't have any hardware defects? What kind of software do you guys use for this? Anything I should do/know as a new Sager owner?

What are your specifications? I ask to see what GPU you have and if you have an SSD or HDD or both, and what wifi card you have.
Also, for future reference, I would recommend posting in either the official Owner's lounge or on the Sager/Clevo main page of the forums.
If you bought your laptop from a reputable reseller, they would generally test all of the hardware before it is shipped out.
but, if you do wish to check it yourself, I would recommend the following:
Memtest86 Memtest86 - Download Page for your RAM. Let it run for at least 6 hours, longer if you have more than 12GB of RAM.
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test will give you SOME idea of your LAN connection speeds. Please keep in mind this tests more than just your laptop itself, it will also tattle on your ISP if they have been throttling your speeds.
Depending on your drives, if you have a traditional hard drive check in device manager to see if you have an ST (SeaGate) or WD (Western Digital). Google should get you the appropriate tools or you can check back here to request the links.
Furmark or Kombustor are excellent utilities for stress testing your graphics card, but it is not recommended to run Furmark for more than 10 minutes as you can risk damaging your graphics card.
3DMark Vantage can test CPU and GPU and get you an overall score which you can post here in the forums to compare with other people. This might also be useful to test your switching graphics.
Aside from that, just browse the web and load a few games and see how it goes. -
Thanks guys, I'll run those tests when I have a chance.
And my specs are:
500GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
128GB Sandisk Extreme SSD
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
AMD® Radeon™ HD 7970M 2GB GDDR5
Intel® Centrino™ Advanced-N 6235
Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM
What kind of tests should I run on my new Sager NP9170.
