    Hi,

I currently have an old Logitech 3 button mouse with a tail, err, cord and I am looking to retire it. What is a good mouse to go with the 5793 or which do you use? I'm looking for something cordless, good for gaming and cool looking. :)

    Thanks for any suggestions!

In general I do not find cordless mice good for gaming. They have a certain lag and often turn off after ludicrously short periods of inactivity. However this is just my opinion...

wireless lx7 or mx revolution. i couldn't tell you what's good corded it's been so long. i think the logitech 518 is corded. are you looking to buy online or in store? if online, i think the best recommendation would be to stop by a store that has a good selection of mice, and see what you like. some of the packaging on mice, especially logitech allows you to cup your hand over the mouse over the plastic. but logitech is a good choice. most of their mice are great on battery and reception and performance. find a few that you like of any brand, and do some quick research to make sure they fit those specifics and then narrow down to price and comfort.

Logitech MX518 was rated as 2nd out of like 100+ mice in a study and many people say its the best mouse ever.

The one rated first was some logitech mouse that had something overclocked on it or something.

Razer Diamondback. Its possibly the best gaming mouse ever made, followed by mx518. There is a new Razer Diamondback 3g which i hear is really nice, with more dpi than my older one, but im old school.

what's your budget on a mouse, btw? they're expensive for some unknown reason. i don't understand why a decent mouse is 40+. i'm sure all the manufacturers sell enough mice, that there should be a decent selection of ~$20-25 mice. a good cord/cordless mouse with 4-6 buttons usually starts out @~$35-40.

if you want something for gaming, you're probably looking @ spending $60 minimum and expect to pay higher for performance and especially bells and whistles like completely reprogrammable buttons and weights you can change to modify weight distribution. if you didn't need gaming performance, the lx7 is 34 bucks @ walmart. it's decent. i just bought the nano recently because it was on sale for 50 bucks. it's not a gaming mouse, but just wanted to let you know if you consider it, you might wanna try seeing if it'll fit your hands properly. it's borderline for me, but i've finally got used to it. if you have big hands i highly recommend staying away from it. on the other hand, using a full size like my lx7 makes these type of mice seem humongous now. :D

I use vx revolution, dongle is bigger than nano, but the mouse feels better as it is designed for *right-handed* people, unlike the nano which is universal fit.

I had a Mx 518 by logitech that mouse served me well, and i found out im more of a "palm grip player" then a "claw grip player" I prefer comfort over anything else while i game, and the second of the 2 would give me bad Arthritis pains ha. Anyway I "upgraded" my mouse to a Razer DeathAdder with the upgraded 3g optical stuff. Neat little mouse felt exactly like my
MX518, but offered better on the fly DPI settings and i could fine tune the DeathAdder a little more then my MX518.
Anyway if you cant Decide on a gaming mouse or mouse in general check out this forum posted by Nocturnal310 http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=229459

Im using the MX510 in red, which is a lil old. Now i use it on my laptop and vista. But there isnt vista drivers. However, if you DL the XP ones, or the mx518 for vista ones (i forget which) the mx510 works like a charm. love it.

Here lemme update ya with another esrealityDOTcom 2007 mouse review.

    http://esreality.hexus.net/?a=longpost&id=1300293&page=5

    check that link instead.

And from the looks of the chart Lazer mice are no where close to IR/Optical mice, then again to each his/her own. My bro loves lazer mice cause they can track on almost any surface, i however prefer my IR mice. and Kalt there likes trackballs! heck i use to use trackballs, but yeah whatever the best advice i have ever heard one person give another on choosing mice, and one that i go by myself is COMFORT always make sure the mouse feels COMFORTABLE!

So it looks like the Razer took the top spot in the updated results. Thats cool but the MX518 is still 3rd and I like the shape because it confirms to the right hand more.

Oh and Trackballs are sweet if you liked to get killed repeatedly and adore missing shots on your opponents. For that purpose they are like the best ever.

I've recently gone through a lot of mice - Switching from my desktop to this notebook, getting a portable cordless system was important for me.

I originally used a Logitech LX700 keyboard/mouse set. That mouse was wonderful - comfortable, good response, very nice 5 button mouse overall. However, it required it's charging cradle as the USB base station, and that was entirely too impractical to use as a portable mouse.

So, I set out to find a mouse that was wireless, 5 button, not fugly, and ideally bluetooth (So there's no receiver at all) though failing that I'd settle for a small receiver.

Most wireless mouse USB receivers are enormous, and I hate having things poking out of my notebook when I'm on the go. I also like to reduce "Setup" time when I want to use my notebook (plugging in periepherals, etc) as I often have to work in small little chunks of time.

The first thing I found was bluetooth mice in general are nearly non-exisitant. There are a few, but most are just 2-3 button mice and I could never give up my 5+ buttons for gaming.

MS makes a bluetooth mouse with 5 buttons, but it's really, really, profoundly ugly. Yeah, I'm shallow.

Then I found the Nano. It's a neat looking mouse, 5 button, and while it's a USB wireless mouse, it's receiver is *tiny*. Hurray! So, I bought it. It works great, is very, very precise, and generally a good mouse. However, I've got gigantic, apelike paws. I found that the Nano mouse was just too small for my hands, and gave me really rather painful cramps after any length of time. I personally, it turns out, need a taller mouse that will fill my palm more. Also, and this is all entirely personal preference of course, I found that the mouse buttons 4 and 5 were kind of awkward to use, as I needed to use my index finger to press them - a finger otherwise occupied with mouse button 1. So, no good for me. It's to bad, as it's a very nice piece of equipment all around. Probably e-bay time for it :)

Back to the drawing board. I ended up picking up a Logitech MX5500 bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo, and this I'm happy to say is working out really nicely. The MX5500 comes with a Revolution mouse (referenced earlier in this thread) - but one that's bluetooth! So, no more receiver, and I've found it works accurately up to 30 feet or so, even through walls. This provides a wonderful side benefit - unlike USB wireless gear which typically only works under very short range (in my experience!) I'm able to have my notebook across the room - even in another room entirely - and play games on my HDTV from the comfort of my couch.

Anyways, I ramble. The set cost me $99 after the instore $50 rebate and the logitech $45 mail in rebate (which I fully expect to not see for a minimum of 3 months, given how those work). The Revolution mouse, however, is outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. It's purely a right-handed mouse, but it's incredibly comfortable, very responsive, laden with easily accessed controls, has a click/smooth configurable scroll wheel, an extra button on top and an extra thumb "wheel" control on the side.

You can buy a USB version of the mouse, and I'd go that route if you don't have internal USB, but if you do, the keyboard/mouse set is very nice. The set comes with a USB Bluetooth adapter, but to be honest I don't see it being worth the hassle - if you're going to use an adapter, just get the USB version, as the bluetooth ones may not function until your system boots up and loads the drivers. For me, that's a non-issue, as the notebook keyboard/touchpad work fine in that state if it's needed.

funny you should say that smood i actually had a MX518 before switching to an DeathAdder. Dude they feel almost exactly the same, Cept i tip my hat to the MX518 for being more conformed to my hand. On the flip side i like how the DeathAdder has bigger buttons to access on the side compared to the small buttons on the MX518

Optical= LED light, Laser= Laser; laser more responsive allows higher DPI. But higher DPI not always good, like Fatality 2020 with 2700 DPI= RETARDED

Anything over 2000 DPI is pointless unless your ONLY job is as a sniper on a counterstrike team, but still RETARDED, you better pray you can switch to a lower DPI on the fly when you gotta run and juke away from the dudes about to flank you.

What? High DPI would be bad for a sniper. And what the hell is 'juke' away? If you simply mean avoid then I think you mean you need faster turning in which case High DPI would be used not low.

I got a Razer DeathAdder my self, which im very glad for, its a very nice mouse IMO. Works well for games, with high precision and a good feel. Im a "palm-grip" and I dont find it uncomfitable to use, even after hours of use. Also the drivers for it are cool tbh, as they dont power up fully before connecting the mouse and works fine with vista :)

Before I had a G7 which died on me and wanted to give the deathadder a shot. You might want to get a wireless for "on-the-go" as the cord is very unhandy imo :( tho thats the same for every corded mice around :p

Im on the lookout for a wireless desktop set my self. Tried out the logitech wave, which wasnt a succes, as the mouse wount work 1½ meter from the reciver. Now having a look out for the MX3200 and MX5500 desktop sets.

Are you running BlueSoleil for your integral bluetooth in the M570RU? If so, and you want to go with the MX5500 (which I highly recommend, it's a great set and pairs very well with the notebook) and use Bluetooth, you'll need to get the Widcomm stack to use all the features. Send me a PM if you need it.

It's damn cool to have a wireless desktop set without a receiver, that you can use even in another room entirely without any loss.
