Beating myself up on either 926X or the 579X. Leaning toward the 926X because of the quad cores and multi HDs. I have tried to keep track of forthcoming technologies for both. If I wait another 6 weeks (May 1'ish or so) before ordering, what is the best guess for which new CPU and GPUs might be available for purchase in these units.

not for a couple years prob. cept for that new 15" 8800
i like bigger notebooks tho myself.
I just got the D901c today. it's bloody magnificent!
I heard there will prob be support for new processors penryn quad's soon via bios update. -
Eh i doubt it will be a couple years, but at least nothing major untill fall.
They have anounced 9 series mobile GPU's, but it was a full year before we got a gaming enthusiast version of the 8 series so I wouldn't wait on that.
Montevina laptops should start showing up in fall if not by summer, but other than some power benefits it wont be a big deal imo.
The only thing that might make me wait is for the clevo refresh of the m570 hoping for quiter fans and to get the hdmi out. But I know it will probably get delayed out and drive me nuts so I probably wont wait. -
the last clevo d900 lasted 3 years.
-
i mean before they do a total new gen change.
they will prob let it happen with a mobo upgrade and keep the d901 goin. -

I generally dont play the waiting game for new tech, I usually replace my system (or upgrade it) every 2 years, so when the time comes around I buy the best I can afford at the time
as luck (or not) would have it, Alienware delaying me for over a month, meant that I bought a Penryn instead of a standard core 2 duo.
Go figure -
Next gen for notebooks:
- Montevina platform (new mobile dual cores and first mobile quad cores)
ETA: End of Q2 2008 for platform to be announced, Q3-Q4 2008 for mobile quad cores.
Note: The first only quad-core notebook at the moment is the Clevo D900C/D901C (aka. Sager 9262) -
...With a desktop CPU I might add.
Anyway, Q3 will bring a 1k mobile quad core CPU. Nehalem will bring the more mainstream quads into the market. -
And, if you wait long enough, you'll eventually be able to get a quantum mechanics-based processor that can do your laundry, wash your dishes, and rub your feet while you game - simultaneously. I think the release date on that is tentatively scheduled for Q3 of never.

True the quantum processor obviously doesnt get finished, otherwise It would rip itself from an alternative dimension at an earlier time to maximise profits as it invests shares in the company that created it at the same time
oh yes and It uses the money to create an evil lair in a hollowed out volcano, so it can take over the world. -

I know I am right. The only thing I hate that I might need a laptop before Nehalem is released...anyway...I hate new technology
.

How do you interpolate the pic with the text? never bothered researching, so I might as well get the cheese where it`s cheapest. -
I just ran the markup text for the image straight with the body text. It may have something to do with not putting a blank space between the last letter of the normal text and the "[" opening bracket of the markup.

You mean like this ?

class, and for Fade to Black, just get the tech you can afford at the time
the waiting game is for suckers
(Yes yes ok I once played it)

Yeah and mostly you can't keep up.
I was joking anyway, since I am not sure about whether I will be able to wait to get a quad core and keep my current desktop or be forced to get what I can at the time. -
well just wait until you really can not wait any further...
-
Obviously I'll get what I need when I need.
What new technology and when?
