The qx9300 was the only mobile chip I was considering until I found out people put desktop processors in their laptops.
Can I just grab any desktop cpu or does it have to be laptop proven somehow?

Because they are physically seperate processors. Its because of heat and power usage that mobile processors exist. The Clevo D900F and D901C series are the only notebooks in the world that support desktop cpus. The M570TU will only accept dual core mobile processors. The M570ETU will accept up to the QX9300. It is absolutely physically impossible to put a desktop cpu into any other notebook.
