WhatÂ’s the difference between these two laptops if I customize the NP5175 that it will have the same processor and RAM as NP8170? Apart from the video card, is there any other difference? Is keyboard, speakers and all other components the same?

The P170HM has an aluminum finish around the key rest and is built a little sturdier. It also comes with a second HDD bay and 4 RAM slots, while the W170HR has only 1 bay and 2 RAM slots. Also of note, the P170HM uses the HM67 chipset instead of HM65 which allows for XTU RAM and unlocked/overclocked CPU's.

Essentially, the P170HM is a premium machine versus mainstream. The video card support is by far the biggest difference though.

Also, building on what Malibal already mentioned, the NP5175 comes with a GT 555M that has Optimus for a little better battery life. The NP8170 lacks in that department (since it is definitely a premium machine). However, there are options to swap out the optical bay in both machines if you need more hard drive space :) (External DVD drives are super-cheap nowadays)

The power capabilities for (GPU's and other power hungry componets) is much better in the NP8170 (P170HM). Also the cooling is more robust in the 8170. :)

The NP8170 is definitely a bit bulkier (check the specs on Sager's website for exact numbers) both in size and weight. For obvious reasons stated above.
