    Hello

First of all I want to say thanks to the members here. You don't know it but I've been stalking as a guest for months and have gathered loads of useful information which I used to make a recent purchase.

I managed to find the laptop listed in my sig on Ebay, brand new for 1500 quid (apart from the OCZ memory which I ordered today) which is a bit of a bargain I think because direct from Rock this laptop would have cost well over 2000 quid :)

Anyway, I just wanted to know what to expect when it comes to benchmarking? The usual tools...3dmark & vantage.

    Thanks in advance

    Joe

Should score around 9750 in 3dmark 06 with stock nvidia drivers. You got a config close to mine and I scored 9752 and 9771 stock.
If you want to Overclock the GPU anywhere upwards of 11K-11.5K
Just look at my sig for comparison.

Is it simple to overclock the GPU? I heard it can only be done with flash? But I also heard that the latest drivers support s/w overclocking...

Also, can you tell me if the M870 supports 1333mhz DDR3? I checked and saw a site that said it was supported but someone has told me its not

    Thanks

Scourge is talking about overclocking the processor not the GPU joeking.

I thought the Clevo BIOS was locked to prevent processor overclocking? GPU OCs are more practical though, especially with RivaTuner.

Yes I was only talking about the GPU....it is easily overclocked if you use official Nvidia drivers and Ntune. No need to flash the bios.
As far as the CPU is concerned overclocking is unfortunately Not supported by the BIOS or setfsb. Which is a total shame.

Its really disappointing to not be able to overclock the CPU but if I can get a decent overclock on the GPU I'd be happy enough. Thanks for the info :)

Unfortunately today I made the mistake of buying without first researching and bought 4GB DDR3 1333 (OCZ). Could you tell me if there is any point in installing this or should I return it before I open it? I heard its pretty pointless as it will clock to 1066 anyway, perhaps with looser timings than stock 1066 :(

If I return them I have already found a place to buy HyperX 1066 CAS5 so all is not lost I suppose

If you can return it, and have a better price on the 1066MHz RAM, then go for it. Timings may be slower with the 1333MHz ones as another member here had a similar problem (only he already owns both types of RAM).
