Hi I've had my Sager np8662 for a week now and i am lovin it. The only problem i have is the HDD. Ive already read the post on the hot hdd but i was wondering if i should replace the hdd or what? I am worried with how hot it gets. It use to idle at 55-58 but with new drivers it stays at 52-55. Would tis hot HDD affect other hardware including the cpu and gpu? I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what i could do? Is it just a faulty HDD and should i call xoticpc to replace it or what? Or is that normal? BTW i have the seagate momentus 7200.3. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thnx.

Install the latest intel matrix storage drivers from Intel's website and see if that helps. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...ndows+Vista*+64&lang=eng&strOSs=150&submit=Go!
Also, if this doesn't help that much, disable any indexing that Vista or Windows 7 is doing unnecessarily on the hard drive. -
Well considering I have the exact same specs as you (including same hdd) and that mine idles at 45-48 and tops at 53, I'd say either something in software is making the hdd hot or your hdd is a bit faulty..
But it isn't that hot if your not in the 60s, and if it fails well warranty will take care of it
I'd say keep it and do a backup in case. But do tell xoticpc, so they know that some of their hdds are running hot. -
Thnx for the help guys. Ive already updated the intel matrix storage drivers which helped a bit but its still in the 50s. Ill look into disabling some indexes.Thats true I also got the warranty.
What should i do with HDD?
