    Hello all NBR readers,

I have recently decided I may purchase a Sager laptop from xoticpc. I am picking the NP8130 or NP8150. My previous laptop was a 17" HP with 256mb graphics (I know really old) and afterwards purchased an Asus gaming laptop with 512mb ram. Ever since that laptop got old like 4 years ago I started to use a desktop pc that I built.

This is my first time purchasing from an online retailer.

What I am wondering is what can I except to see or get from a Sager laptop? What kind of features does it have compared to Asus gaming laptops like the G53JW?
I understand the specs are different but Clevo and Sager must have a feature that seperates them from the rest. I would really like to know what these laptop brands bring to the table.

Thanks and sorry if this is the wrong section =]

Clevo and Sager computers offer very good cooling and most importantly, upgradable parts meaning you don't have to dish the dosh on a new laptop every now and then instead you buy the parts much like with a custom desktop. They are also the company most likely to have the newest tech everytime its out especially with graphics cards. They aren't the best to look at but from an economical and performance point, there is no other. Only other that comes close is Alienware but considering they used to Clevo resellers anyways and the recently product refreshes have been pretty dire, I'm ruling them out.

    Cool thanks for that information.

Does Sager have any of their own software preloaded on the notebook? If yes, what software?

You can buy a sager with no software on it. Conversley you could get one with the o/s and drivers already installed. Sager/clevo is known for not including bloatware with their machines

They don't load it down with a bunch of bloatware. If you purchase an OS, the only additional software they include is PowerDVD for the optical drive and BisonCam for the webcam.

    Thanks again,

I will most likely buy an OS >_< Anything I should know about Sager / Clevo? I'm laptop newb so any tips would be greatly appreciated

If all goes well i'll be buying the 8130 on Monday. Seems like the 8150 is too much money for my needs.

Their main distinction is that they're very powerful -- at any given time, they're either the best out there or pretty close. Other than that, they tend to be bigger and heavier than machines with the same screen size, their battery life is lousy, they're more upgradable than most and they have good cooling (often at the price of being noisy). That's basically it; Clevo is not big on gimmicks.

with all those downsides, clevo delivers what you pay for. if you want simply performance based laptop, clevo is for you. and in my opinion, clevo has the most advanced release regarding gpu and cpu, with a good price in the other hand.

Is it easy to find sager and clevo drivers and update them? Are they fast at getting new updates out?

For some reason, the first thing that came into my mind when reading this thread title was: "gremlings" . Just wanted to share that.

To be fair, when you will ask ppl. in the Clevo section of this forum what to expect, you will get mostly positive replies. In the end it's up to you and what fits your needs best. Clevo notebooks are more for ppl. who know what they are doing when it comes to PC hardware and modding, ppl. who lean more towards a DOY approach.

    quick question:

Do Sager products have decent sound quality? I'm looking at the NP8130, it comes with a 1080p screen so I most likely will watch from my bed while it is on my desk. It won't sound bad right?

i can't say all sager laptops in general, but sharing with my unit (sager np7280) i will rate the sound quality as average.
