This thing looks like a beast for a great price. I've never used a Sager and don't know anything about them. I also like the fact that for a gaming machine it's very elegant and not flashy with the design.
So what are the pros/cons of this machine or Sager in general?

Pros:
-Medium to High quality Build
-Fast and runs cool (most components)
-High end parts that are futureproof and should last you the lifetime of 3 basic notebooks.
Cons:
-Hard drive runs a bit hot in comparison to other laptops (however, the sensation of heat is no different to what you'd feel on another laptop)
-Sort of low battery life (but this might not hold as you can get almost 3 hours in Windows 7)
-If you are 'l33t', does not come with uber cool lighting effects to show your friends how big your e- is.
This machine is best suited for
-realist
-bang for your buck
-people looking for performance and portability
This machine is not suited for
-people looking for a large battery life
-people looking for a laptop lit like a christmas tree
-racists -
Yeah, I pretty much narrowed it down to this and a Lenovo t500. -
Quoting me from another thread: The NP8662 has a faster GPU than any other 15.4" notebook; this is the main reason we suggest it. And it supports the latest Intel chipset and CPUs, unlike the M15x, even the 2.0ghz quad core Q9000 is supported, and Q9100 and QX9300 work to an extent. Cooling is pretty good (considering what's under the hood), build quality is excellent, and it's priced well. There's no other 15" that comes close.

Less filling, tastes great!!!

I've only had mine for a few days but:
Pros:
Wicked fast, you can't get a comperable system for anything less than almost double the price. Dell/Alienware can't een come close to the options you can get on this things (GPU/BluRay, etc.)
Built in BT
Quad core (2.0 but it has a fast GPU with a lot of RAM and with 4GB RAM you will be fine.
Well built, looks clean, nice metal/blk look with silver accents.
Built in camera
Option to order it without an OS (which is a bit troublesome unless you are PC savy as you need to dl and install the Intel Storage drivers for the SSD and install them prior to adding an OS (something I wasn't readily aware of).
Again, one of the fastest 15" notebooks you can get.
Cons:
HDD runs HOT (I'm running a SSHD) under the right palm pad
Touch pad buttons are REALLY stiff
Lid doesn't latch but has a enough wieght to keep it closed
Friend of mine just got a 17" Macbook and was really impressed with the build quality and overall components in comparison (SSD, GPU and BluRay options) and he paid about $500 more. -
Quad core and intel SSD? Your system must be screaming fast lol. I've got my QX9300 otw and I'll eventually get a 250GB vertex or equivalent when they drop in price... but until then I can only guess how fast fast really is.

So far it seems to be =D Trying to find a free bench mark program right now. -
Cons: Battery life (you know what your getting into with a notebook like this), HD heat, lacks the ability to transform into a car or plane -
- wPrime 2.00
For GPU:
- 3DMark06
- 3DMark Vantage
For System:
- PCMark05
- PCMark Vantage
For Videogame Performance:
- Crysis Benchmark
- Unreal Tournament 3 Benchmark
- The Last Remnant Benchmark -
Infernal - I thought the SSDs were running a lot cooler than the regular HDDs, which is part of the reason why I was going to spend a bit more money for it. Is yours still running pretty hot?
Also, because I was planning on ordering my 8662 without an operating system and installing Windows 7, what's this business about installing the SSD drivers before Windows? Is there anything else to keep in mind before installing Windows 7 myself? -
This laptop is so great, I got mine with the Q9000 with the GTX 260M and I haven't had any problems with any games and all of them have been maxed out at 1680 X 1050 resolutions.
Almost every single game I have tried has made use of all 4 CPU cores and even GTA IV runs at 30-40 fps. Saints Row 2 is also playable with minor slow downs but with further tweaking on both of these terrible ports, things will be better.
The NP8662 has a very sophisticated look, it is solidly built and screams out quality. I had a few heat issues with the default hard disk but these aren't so bad now after I put a different 5400 RPM in.
I can't recommend this laptop enough for gaming!!
I also highly recommend the Q9000 over the P9600, not only because the 2.0 Ghz clock will never bottle neck GPU dependent games but it is also great for general application multi-tasking as well as games that are either quad optimised or multi-threaded. I find myself doing much more at once too.
I recommend you to go and buy this laptop right now. -
Thanks! -
What's the verdict on the NP8662?
