What's wrong?!

Hey everyone!
I have enjoyed my recently acquired laptop (Sager NP5790), but as usual it is time for some problems....I bought this "beast" in august, so problem with dustfull fans and what not is not on my list, since I ONLY play on my laptop cooler....Well here are my problems :
1)At the boot, when the BIOS windows pops up it take up to 1 min! (approx., maybe a bit less) (it freezes the loading bar at about 70%) to start loading windows, however after I see the windows loading everything is fine...
2)It seems to me that my "beast" cannot handle quiet simple for my spec games like WoW (world of warcraft); I mean I run it on highest settings and my FPS on avg. is around 60, however when I enter one of the major cities, my FPS drops drastically (for ppl who know it's shattrath city) I understand that there are a lot of players in the same area, but cmon....(again for ppl who know) in other major cities my FPS is quiet good (in 45-50s...) so ...what's up?!
3) Last but not least...when i press alt+tab...oh my..it takes like 5-6 seconds for my lappy to load the info on screen (when I alt+tab from WoW for e.g.) and my friends laptop which has 1gb RAM and ATI x600 and god knows what processor (OLD!!!) alt+tabs in a second if not less....something is gotta be wrong

FYI my temps during gametime are CPU around 46C....GPU 47-48C....HD 49-50C...(kinda bothers me BTW)...

CPU COre 2 DUO T7100 @1.8ghz (Have the thermo thingy )
1gb RAM
GPU 7950GTX 512mb

i assume u have XP with that one gig of RAM.... cuz thats not enuf for vista which can give you some problems. Other than that... video drivers for the fps. As far as the boot thing goes... thats a toughie. get TuneXP and run the bootup files defragger and see wat happens.

 

Hmmm I thought my drivers were pretty fresh, but I'll see what I can get....And yes I have XP cuz I dislike vista..hehe.....however what concerns me the most is my alt+tab problem..any suggestions???

BTW When I play my laptop is always plugged into AC, cuz my fps just dies if I dont plug it in...plus if I take out my battery my laptop starts moving from side to side which is not comfortable (not at all )

 

Check for spywares

Run chkdsk

Defrag

Enable some virtual memory

Check what's running in the background

Format will fix any software problems

 

ROFL....I just looked at some of the drivers people are using....163.76 and what not....I had 94.22...is THAT the problem??....
As for the background I run programs like winamp and some hardware monitoring like NHC...

 

94.22 is stock.. and it def doesnt help for newer programs and games... the i get the alt-tab problem too, it usually happens if the game is a diff resolution than your normal resolution (you screen has to change resolution wen switching) so it goes blank for a bit. also, you can keep ur fps up wen on battery by changing ur power options, i forget where it specifically is tho, but i kno there are opptions to keep max video settings wen on battery, which would also then obviously eat your battery to hell... but u wont lose fps

 

Oh my...that is true...I'm pretty sure my resolutions are different...you just made my day ....as for bios problem...I just did a minor research and found out that there is PhoenixBIOS 4.0 release 6.1 (I think thats how it goes) and in notes it says that it reduces boot time..so that might be it...however I cannot find the download button ....and can't get it on net...maybe looked in wrong places....as for drivers....ahhhhh...been playying on stock all that time...does it affect performance comparing to newest drivers?

 

btw....when I go to nvidia.com and try to find my gpu....all i can see is 7900GTX...thats as close as it get to my 7950 GTX...what to do?...went on clevo.com and dwnlding drivers from there but no idea if they are fresh...:S

actually I'm really confused now...in device manager it says that the driver version is the same as the one on clevo website, however the date of mine is 2/13/07 and theone on clevo is from june....and on nvidia.com when I scan it tells me I have 94.22 drivers...so ...wtf?!...bah..all these drivers are driving me nuts!!!!....jeez....anything you guys can find on my bios problem..pls post it....

normally as u update drivers from one to the next release... its not rele noticeable... but wen you go from STOCK to the newest... yea... you'll def see better performance. go to community forum on laptopvideo2go.
