What CPU is everbody going for or thinking of going for when they order? And is there any particular reason you have chosen that CPU?

The P8400, or whatever is the cheapest. I like to buy at the cheapest configurations and then upgrade things at my own pace.
-
Definitely a P instead of a T. I'm worried enough about overheating as it is.

p9500, definitely
-
P9500. Because of what ^^^ says. Heating is definately going to be an issue. Especially because I know I will be mildly overclocking this sexy thing. I've got some Mx2 thermal paste waiting to be applied on every component I can put it on.
-
i'll stick with p8400
-
p9500. Best balance of performance/price IMO.

P95 and yeah, cant believe its going to be another month before it gets here.
-
don't think there is going to be a heating problem with the T9600 either, thats what i have chosen, they draw an extra 10w but the T9600 is the quickest Proc currently out for the 5796. 2.8Ghz, thats the same as the x9000 processor of the area51 m17x. But its not an extreme processor.
-
the qx9300, what else?
-
Thats not being offered lol
-
I was originally on order for a P9500, as it seems like a really great performance to TDP ratio. But I just upgraded to the T9600 because I will likely overclock (if possible through SetFSB) and I think that the T9600 will be better suited for that in terms of stability at higher clocks.

p9500.
chaz almost had me going on gettin the p8400 though.. i dunno
hopefully no buyers remorse or im going to miss 100$s -
LOL. I was in EXACTLY the same boat as you here! After reading Chaz's suggestion on sticking with the base CPU, I changed my mind a few times, going back and forth between the P8400 and the P9500 before sticking with my original choice of the P9500. I thought that maybe the P9500 would be slightly more futureproof, as I would never know if I'd have benefitted more from the extra 3MB cache if I had settled on the P8400. -
P9500. I actually thought this would be better for overclocking than the T9600 because of it's lower multiplier and power consumption. That's assuming someone will find out and code a clockgen for the PLL.
But T9600 wasn't worth the extra money and I'm happy with an extra 10 minutes running time. -
Just kidding.
For my M570TU I took the P8600. Seems plenty of power, and I can always upgrade later -
The qx9300 is going to be offered, and if its not I've already willingly accepted to void my warranty by any reseller if the quad is detected no problem.
Whose the man? I am.
Thanks. -

Have you read the Sticky at the top of this forum?
You will be the man alright...the man without a warranty
I am eager to hear how it works out for you though. I am sure with your expertise you won't be afraid of the heat, and will also be careful with it, so it will be interesting to all of us to see what it will do for you! -
They offer the QX9300 at Eurocom, for $1109 extra. I don't quite know how that will work out though.
-
I dont like Eurocom. Those bums respond when they want to and other times they run and hide. I asked them for a concrete date on the quad they haven't responded. They only respond to my inquiries when I don't ask questions and it's just a savedquote.
Believe me I'm losing sleep over this I can't WAIT! -
I wonder if anyone around here with more insight on the chip architecture and how the lower TDP is achieved could give us some insight on the overclock-ability of these chips.
Where are those Intel engineers when you need them? -

What's your Clevo M860TU processor going to be?
