I would like to know what is the ETA for the new 14 Clevo's with Pascal graphics cards coming out.

It doesnt have to be exact date, just a ETA.

Don't hold your breath, they are not refreshed anytime soon.

God just answered you. Consider yourself honored. And also definitely go with what he says, he would know more than almost any other member on the forum. I would think they would refresh the graphics cards when Pascal comes out, but there won't be any chassis changes anytime soon.

I dont mind if the chasis changes, just if or when they will come out with Pascal in them.

I was going to order the 14 inch model with the 970m but most resellers took them off of their website. The business laptop I have now, w230ss 860m's failed for the 2nd time, this time when the warranty expired.

If it is similar to the previous P34 models, and really a lot of slim models like that, it would benefit from an upgrade on thermal paste over the stock compound. Haven't got to see an Aero hands on though, so I'm not sure what that difference in cooling would be yet.

That's always the temptation with the 14 inch models, get them slimmer and slimmer until....

I don't really recommend you to buy any Gigabyte model, mainly because of it's temperature. I had Aorus X3 plus, and I wasn't very happy with my experience.

    1. Wifi connection was TERRIBLE. Like, the worst wifi connection in my life. You get .4 mbs (not 4 mbs!) when every you try to connect to wifi. I've tried to change wifi chipset, however, it didn't help

    2. Keyboard was terrible. I thought I was using Iphone's touch screen.

    3. temperature, of course. I've changed thermal compound, both mx-4 and GC extreme, undervolt the cpu as well. However, it consistently hit 90c (about 210F)

Maybe Aorus has fixed the problem, but still I do not recommend laptop from gigabyte.

There's currently no Pascal chip that'll work in the <100W TDP bracket. The 965Mv2 still does pretty well from a perf/watt perspective though (far superior to the ageing GM107 chips for sure). Even the GP106 core is a relatively hungry thing.

Given the 960M skew is likely Nvidia's best selling mobile GPU, I'd say they'll definitely replace it with something....eventually.

So would it be safe to return my ASUS GL502VS? Cause what I really want is a 14" Clevo. I can live with the 1060. But this thread had me thinking we wouldn't see the Clevo refresh for another 12 months or something.

No guarantee how long you'd be without one, I don't know if I'd return it unless you have something else to hold you over.

I'm on the fence about it. It's really a great laptop. It's not 4.8 lbs, it's actually 5.6 lbs, and every ounce matters to me since I travel so much with it. Temps are a non-issue. It gets loud, but I suspect every model with a desktop 1070 will get loud. The 14" clevo has appeal because it's likely to weigh in at 4ish lbs, whatever last year's model weighed. Wouldn't shock me if the fans need to ramp up on the 14" either...

The 1070 is pretty hungry, you need a fair amount of airflow and copper to keep it happy. It's a beast for performance though.
