Mine should come in sometime tomorrow, is anyone else's coming in anytime soon?
-
A little less than 4 weeks away for me.
I am so anxious.
-
weeks are ok to me, its prolly around 3 o clock tomorrow right before i have to go to work and it still hasn't arrived that is going to suck the hardest.
-
You gonna write a review or just some impressions?
-
hehe, I'm getting mine around early September. Ah, the waiting game is so very bittersweet.
-
Lol, are you not ordering yours till mid august or so? (enought time for reviews and such) waiting does stink though.
-
i want to definitely write a review or something similar. definitely some benchmarks and i have supreme commander so i'm gonna see how well that does and the company of heroes. what else should i try? maybe c&c3
-
Well, I'm certainly waiting for reviews, even though I'm reasonably sure this machine is going to absolutely rock. But more importantly, I am waiting for money to trickle in. As you all know very well, summer jobs in high school really do not pay so well.... So that's my biggest concern. Otherwise, I would have been in on the preorder, with all the rest of you crazy kids.
-
) Alos c&c3 the best game I have that graphic wise so far so that would be great if you tried that one. (don't have oblivion, battlefeild, supcom, fear, coh, etc...)
-
if your looking for a good summer job try a nursing home, they usually pay real well. i'll try to give a review to the best of my ability
-
Nursing Home.........that's, that's..that's, GENIOUS!
-
seriously its great, try to get a job in the kitchen, then you don't even have to work with the old people!!!
-
-
its the best and only job i've ever had!
-
if working at a movie theater payed a 5/10 (for high school summer jobs)
where would you rate the pay at the nursing home? -
5/10 is very optimistic, especially if it's at the Edwards Evil Empire theatres.
-
-
Monday Monday Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-
When did you order it? -
-
yup, July 2nd.
I ordered at night on the 17th, so it's kinda the 18th really. And then I accidentally gave XoticPC the wrong Credit card info, so I guess officially it's a 19th order. because that delayed it a day. -
Well, if I can order it in Late June/Early July and then receive it sometime in July, I will be a happy man. I hope this will work.
-
Yeah I think that's what's going down, shipments are coming but this current shipment is what's going out right now.
-
oh lets just say if 5/10 dollars is what you meant i make 10.5. and sweet glue i know you've been really excited about yours, and i felt bad since you ordered yours before me and i was already getting it.
-
lol np, don't sweat it.
-
I kinda feel bad about getting the screen upgrade since those are coming in soooooooo much later.
-
i kinda wish i did, i think the wait is worth the resolution. but when you think about it in the long run the graphics card is gonna become less and less capable of running games decently at that resolution... so um... i still would have gotten it.
-
Supposedly, first week or two of July is when I'm going to get mine.... but I"m not holding my breath, since I ordered a WSXGA.
-
-
I think he means the matte or the new resolution, correct me if I"m wrong.
Personally, I really like the lower resolution. It's better for games, and I think my eyes aren't good enough for me to get the WSXGA+. -
I don't know why I never caught this - how much more delay is there if I did get the WSXGA?
-
Probably an additional 1-3 weeks tacked on? At least I'm guessing as much, Donald or Justin will probably be a lot more knowledgeable than I.
-
Is there a way to like change your screen resolution while it still says for status..Pre-order: Pending item arrival, and keep your spot in line plus save the 70 bucks?
(err...I just want the performance boost for later years...) -

At this point there shouldn't be any difference, or at least not much of a difference in wait time based on which resolution you select.
The awful wait time has been for those who pre-ordered early. We usually don't start pre-orders until 2-3 weeks before we expect to ship, but this time Compal had one delay after another...and then another when they changed the screen spec on the WSXGA+ from glossy to matte (of course almost everybody rejoiced over that change) and while we were originally told to expect them on June 8th, it will end up being about a month after that...from what we can see so far though it will be worth the wait. -
Just ship the darn notebooks, Compal!!!
-
i hate ups!!! their damn distribution center is so far away from where i live!!
-
So wait, which screen woud likely be better, Matte or Gloss? Also, which one delays the shipping date?
-
I'd be willing to go wait outside the UPS center for it to come.

If you would like to make any changes to a order already placed you will maintain your current position when you placed your order.
Geico, if you need to make a change just let us know -
But I'm leaning ever so close to trying to get in on this laptop. Price is so nice. -

WSXGA+ (1680x1050) and WXGA (1280x800) will produce different size images on your screen. The higher number creates a smaller image, but gives you more of any page on the screen at once...like zooming OUT.
WXGA+ (1440x900) falls in the middle size wise.
Resolution is all about the size of the image produced and has nothing to do with quality. The quality is controlled by the quality of the LCD itself. -
-
LCDs have native resolutions that they run best at. If you run at non native you get like this weird lag thing.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
LCD's greatest advantage is that they are not affected by Refresh rates since they don't refresh and and therefore don't jiggle like CRTs do...the image is rock solid and much easier on the eyes.
However you will notice the LCDs are never advertised as " up to xxxx resolution" like CRTs are, rather they simply state the "Native" resolution.
Actually it is not a lag when you lower the resolution from its Native resolution, but the image is not as clear because it has to dither across pixels instead of laying straight on them. It will tend to have ever so slightly jagged edges on text which can actually be smoothed out by using the ClearType setting in Contol Panel>Display>Appearance>Effects. This jagged edges effect is not nearly as visible with today's video cards as it used to be even 2-3 years ago, so it is far less of a concern when running below the Native resolution. -
I will assume 1680x1050 isn't a bad thing. That's not to small to read I'm guessing if they are selling it. What about games. Would they work better on one or the other?
-
from what i have learned the lower res screens 1440 and 1280 would be able to achieve high framerates on the same settings as the 1680 screen because the gpu doesnt have to do as much.
this is another area I cant decide on :/ -
It's crazy. I don't want it just for games but they will come up for work, at least testing wise. The whole monitor thing on notebooks have always threw me for a loop.
-
i want to go 1440 and buy it from powernb from Donald but sager doesnt offer it :/ i guess ill just go with the 1680
Donald do you work sundays? I would like to place my order over the phone, I could do it monday if you dont.
thanks -
For mer personally the 1280x800 would be the better resolution, as on my desktop I have a 22" monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution. I don't think I could handle the same resolution at that much of a screen size difference.
Not to mention the smaller resolution is better in terms for games and such. With a smaller resolution you will be able to keep other settings higher for longer, without affecting other settings. So on and so forth.
When are you getting your 2090?
