    Aug 11 will see some new configurations for processors/default configs on the 9262.

    There was no mention of new processor options, so I took a quick look on intel and could not see any low power processors with the right socket that would work in the current 9262 mbo, with or without different chipsets. Particularly I was looking for low watt 1600MHz fsb processors with higher clock speeds. I came away with these questions.

    Have we seen the 9262 top out in it's product life cycle with the P965 chips, 1333 MHz fsb, Core 2 Quad 9550 (or the Xeon x3360, depending on which you perceive as the more capable) ? Is this as powerful, as any D901C will ever get?

    And if so, I guess the next big step would be a new Clevo based on nehalem?

    What does the future hold for the D901c, the current king of portables? shortterm and longterm

    I know my baby will last me for 4 more years. I will upgrade it as time goes on, but I don't even want to think about it being outdated.

    Is your info good? can i know the source.?

    If u look around like i did, there is no computer around offering desktop processors except for the 9262.My current laptop is an Inspiron 9100 with a P4 3.2 Ghz processor and is still running great. I really like the desktop processors in a laptop.Given that they only thing to de-thrown a 9262 or a Clevo, will be a 17" Clevo with a newer processor.....probably not this year :)

    Until Nehalem is released, the D901C will remain KING. I foresee in the very near future, Clevo will add HDMI and eSATA ports, SLI 9800GTX, that's about it. I, for one, wish that Clevo would come out with a thinner, lighter 17" version ~8 lbs. with 2 HD's, HDMI, eSATA, back lit keys, etc. The bullky D901C is not ideal in terms of portability at 12+ lbs. Do we really need 3 HD's, esp. with the 320GB 7200RPM & the 500GB 5400RPM drives currently on the market? The M570TU has only a single drive and single GPU :(

    Actually, August 10th you will see a change up in processors. Thats because they are dropping the prices on quad cores and introducing a few new processors. I dont see any reason why the 9262 shouldn't be able to run some of these so I would expect to see a small change up after August 10th.

    This means i now have to wait for at least Aug.10....fits in the scheduled wait for the 9800M GTX SLI :cool:

    Is this info about price drop Aug 10 confirmed or just a strong rumor?

    The "Full" Monte's are supposed to be released about that time. Right now the "T's" and "P's" that are being offered are not full montevina's they have most of but not all of they ingredients to make it a "true" one.

    Their release is what intel called a "back to school" chip. Now that that is out of the way they now can release the real one. Which will have the full designation of Montevina and will be listed as such.

    With the Full Monte release, it will not be long before the Nehalem which will be the Montevina "Quad" chip. Hopefully they could surprise us and release it earlier than October.

    From XTReview

    =========
    http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-5921-view-New-intel-processor-in-august.html

    We already reported that on 10 August , intel will will announce the core 2 Duo e8600 (3.33 GHz) .However, according to some information , intel plans in the third quarter to announce many other processors.

    Associates report , that on 10 August , intel will also present the processor core 2 Quad q9650 (3.0 GHz), which will get the price position $530 ( used by the present model core 2 Quad q9550 (2.83 GHz) ), the latter will fall in price to $316. During the same day intel will release the processors core 2 Quad 9400 (2.66 GHz, 6 mb cache, $266) and Core 2 Duo e7300 (2.66 GHz, 3 mb cache, $133).
    =============

    So the Q9650 at 3GHz will likely become the top processor with most 9262 vendors in August...?

    No, they are +$365 over the E8500. Their price is actually closer to $600.

    No problem. I made the same error of judgment not too long ago, which is why I picked up on it quickly. If the Q9550 dropped to $315, those other processors would almost disappear in price, or a higher processor would become the default (i.e. Q9450).

    Just my thoughts. I wish the 9800 GTX would have some reliable benchmarks out already from multiple sources.
