I am sorry to asking this again, but I am hearing so many different stories lately and not sure which one is real.
Again this is about Sager NP8660
Here are several different versions of the story:
1) From Sager--They told me they will ship all the pre-orders next week.
2) From XoticPC -- They told me if I make order now the laptop should be shipped around two weeks.
3) From Forum user -- He/She said sager is having an order overload and recent orders won't be shipped until mid or late September.
Someone please tell me which one of these is real...

how the heck forum users know? That confidential.
-
The resellers on this forum, Justin and Paladin, should be able to fill us in.
If I order by Friday, and can't receive the laptop before the 29th, I might have to switch my order to a NP5796, because I know that will arrive to me on time.
Alternatively, has anyone recently found out when Eurocom will be able to ship? I'll have to talk to them to negotiate the price before I order, but if XoticPC isn't able to offer the first batch of hardware anymore, maybe a Clevo retailer would be in a different situation?

I am going crazy for not knowing for sure when my laptop will be shipped... it's like I signed an unconditional contract...and paid for it...

The Sager NP8660 with the WSXGA+ screen is in the warehouse in large quantities. The will begin shipping by the end of this week and all pre-orders should be filled by next week.
New orders that come in will get in line and will be shipped shortly...probably by the end of next week as well.
The WUXGA screens should be in next week and begin shipping shortly thereafter. -

Thank you Paladin that is all I need to know, you are a life saver
-
Ahh. Would you happen to know if that's the case with XoticPC, too?
-
Yes it should be. He is speaking in regards to sager, which provides laptops for xotic and PN. I was also told this same info by Justin.
-
-
paladin44 is that the sager warehouse or the Power notebooks one.?
i dont really understand the finer points of the relationships with say sager..
do u store assemble then ship or do u leave that all up to sager. -

-
Then it's just not released to the public.
No reason to use thesaurus words outside of their proper context. -

The are on the Sager production line now. -
Eurocom said something about 'olympic security' delaying shipments and hopefully shipping next week...
-
I heard the same thing from Eurocom, they keep giving me delays.
Apparently the olympics are holding up the shipment and the guy said this Friday or a week from Friday they'll have them. Not sure what that means. Nor do I understand why they would route the laptops through beijing?
Meanwhile Xotic is telling me something much more concrete so I am going to give Eurocom till this Friday (since I won't have to ship the thing far, being canadian). If they don't have them then, I'll place an order with Xotic. -

Are you sure the olympic is holding up the shipment? Because the olympic won't end until like the week after next week ....

I'm gonna get my lappy, I'm gonna get my lappy... sorry, couldn't resist.
-
Olympics is in China, Clevo is in Taiwan. Not entirely seeing the connection here.
-
My EDGE shall be shipping on Friday. Not sure if I'll be receiving it next week though as it has to go through 2 different couriers. One to Miami, then one to Trinidad.

Well played sir. And good to hear they are being built as we speak. -

However the Olympics story is pretty interesting -

Which laptop's production factory is not in China?
-
Just curious, do sager 8660 notebooks bought from pwnb/xotic ever pass through their warehouse or w.e.?(if so..what for?) or do we get em straight from sager themselves?
-
Eh, I thought it made some sense. China's locked down hardcore for the Olympics.
For example, http://marinebiztv.blogspot.com/2008/08/olympics-impact-shipping-at-qingdao.html -
You get it straight from Sager themselves.
If I had a girl for every time that was asked I would make Hugh Heffner look like monk in a monastery.
Speaking of Olympics, Nastia Liukin = <3. -

Going in to China is one thing for security...going out is another -
^ ^ Actually China's trillion dollar economy shuts down during the Olympics
-
They gotta fill up the stadiums some how, and if foreigners aren't being allowed in...
Plus they're being very strict on motor vehicle usage to control pollution. -
mines being shipped 2morrow

Thank you for letting us know Chunghwa!
-
I declare no one's can be shipped before mine is!!!
Btw does any1 know if rock gets their laptops from sager or direct from clevo?
DK -
Man, I knew there was a reason I hated the Olympics! Now it's causing my laptop to be delayed! Aargh.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Rock does not get them from Sager, but probably gets them from a European Importer/OEM. It is highly unlikely that they are Clevo direct.
-
Ok thanks Paladin
-
-
mebe this will help but i heard my reseller got there laptops directly from clevo this week. Lynnbay based in California. So I'm assuming other companies did as well so u shouldn't worry about shipping from Asia to here anymore.
-
I believe the laptops are on a slow boat from China. I doubt they would airfreight them, just too expensive.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Lynnbay sells Pro-Star laptops so while they do not get them directly from Clevo, it does make sense that it will ship either today or tomorrow since Sager and Pro-Star announced several days ago they had arrived and will begin shipping by August 15th.
We appreciate your report
When will the Sager 8660 be shipped?
