OK - thanks to all of you I have decided to go with a Sager N8660 (or clevo counterpart). My next question is where should I buy?

I see you can go online to Sager directly but that might not be the best (I just don't know). As I assume is typical, I'm looking for good service, price and reliability should I need to get the thing serviced.

    Thanks Much!!!!!

Sager is $100ish more than its resellers, and the resellers usually have better service (+ extended warranty service). Check the Clevo FAQ and pick some of the well reviewed resellers; Xotic & Powernotebooks are the favorite US resellers on these boards.

    Clevo Guide

I'm assuming your from the U.S... There are plenty to choose from, but I guess it depends on your location:

Dudes from Powernotebooks.com, Dark Smiley Notebooks, Xotic PC, Lynn Bay are pretty active in this Clevo/Sager sub-forum if that means anything to you.

I'm pretty sure they all price match, so read up on the Clevo guide (particularly the reseller ratings & pricing), get a bunch of quotes and enjoy your machine :D

Hmm... good service? price? reliability? No, don't go through Sager directly :D

Not thru Sager directly...I'm glad to get this information as my logic would have had me going straight to them. I will look at the resellers.

    Thanks again...

Odd, isn't it? Price is actually more expensive through Sager. I guess they have a bunch of people who just want to put systems together and not deal with customers ;)

VV Yeah, agreed. Nice new startup guy :)

Basically, I went with reliable + presence on this board + out of state (no tax) + cheapest or near cheapest.

If you're in America, go with Dark Smiley. The guy is really nice and could use the business right now I hear. No different than going with xotic/powernotebooks and the like.

Dark Smiley seems to have a decent presence on the boards atm, while Xotic and the others vanished.

From what I've seen, he's new, but he's making a pretty good name for himself.

Well, Justin PM'd me here today twice (without prompting - I had posted about Xotic being down in a random thread), so Xotic isn't gone or anything. They have a new promo going and are likely getting flooded; I bet you can find him on the 'what notebook should i buy' boards ;) Alternatively you can just keep mentioning his name or XoticPC or XoticPC.com and he'll see this when he does a search ;)
