    Check this out:

    http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9262-ultimate-custom-laptop-built-clevo-d901c-p-2273.html

I've noticed there is no 8800m gtx's on sale that I could find online, only 8800 gtx's. I couldn't even find any on Ebay. Is this just a slight error in interpretation on my part, or is there no such thing as 8800m GTX that is sold seperately? How do I upgrade to SLI later if there is no 8800m gtx's to be sold?

I can't afford to get this in SLI right now, though it says it's user-upgradable. Bravo on being user-upgradable, but what's the point on getting it if there aren't any notebook 8800 GTX's sold seperately?

    thx

XoticPc, Powernotebooks and Sager will sell individual 8800M GTXs. Just contact them and they`ll be glad to help :)
The 8800M GTX is relatively new, that`s why you can`t find it.Yet.

Please note that neither Sager nor their resellers will be selling extra 8800M GTX cards until nVIDIA has released functional drivers. Sager is not offering the additional card and the SLi cable until they are confident that SLi will actually work. Once nVIDIA has support nailed down, count on every reseller (and OEM) to start offering the 8800M GTX upgrade kit.

    @Pimpaholic:

I think he means the computer, not the card itself. The card's pricing is going to be around $750.

yea, i was looking for the gpu also and did not find but that quote above said it best!

altho i admit i dont get the exact science of SLi... would it be possible to have an existing 8800m gtx and den when\if another new laptop compatible card come out have that in SLi together with the 8800m?

Yes, it may require flashing bios on the video card but it will be user-upgradeable. Many of us are planning on this solution as soon as it is available.

Wait, I'll have to flash the bios to get SLI going? I thought it was just a matter of uninstalling/installing drivers. To me getting into the BIOS is the step between "Man this computer is awesome" and "Oh no what did I do to my awesome computer". I have no bios experience.

I thought all you had to do is concatenate the 8800 GTX you're adding on to with the other one with the SLI connector and download drivers.

That complicates things a bit, and only adds to my pre-major purchase worries lol.

There were some possible tidbits dropped in this thread.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=201595

It is likely that you will have to flash the video card bios for the card you already have. ( should be easy, the second card is preflashed )

Then, simply install the second card, boot up and install the drivers.

The SLI kit will be user-installable, don't worry too much as I am sure there will be good directions to follow the release of the kit.

Oh yeah, I did hear about the instructions. I forgot it stated that lol. My mistake. As you can tell I can get overly worried.

    thx

BTW how do you like you 9262? I'm planning on getting one end of February/Beginning of march (depends on when my tax returns get through).

To be modest, I think it is the greatest thing I've ever set my hands on in the computer world and I am waiting to be able to run SLI 8800's.

I love the thing, and I went and bought a targus backpack, extra power supply, two zalman coolers, and a VX nano mouse to go with it.

I have only had it for a little while but, assuming it doesn't go crazy and break on me, I surely see myself purchasing the updated version of this laptop when this one goes obsolete in however many years.

SLI 8800 should last quite awhile though. I doubt that NVidia is going to be bringing out a new card that blows it away anytime soon, although one that is "a little" bit better is probably going to come out by the end of 2008. ( pure speculation of course )

What isn't speculation in the corrupt entity we all call "advertising", lol. I've never had a laptop before, this will be my first, and I decided to go with the best I could with the money I had. And so far the only negatives I have heard from this beast is how loud it is and the weight (but you can't exactly have the fierceness of a tiger without the roar and the size can you? Then you'd just have a kitten).

The weight of the 9262 is of course an issue if you're looking to take it to class with you every day(or work). But of course none of us are getting this laptop to do that. As for the noise, it's quite quiet unless you use the keyboard shortcut to crank the fans up to max. The only reason I can think that you'd want to do this is for gaming, and then you've either got your headphones or speakers cranked up enough that it won't matter anyway.

It is NOT loud at all. It runs cool and very smooth and I can hold it easily with one hand. If you are a petite person it may be large and heavy to you, do we have a lot of little people here on the forum? :)
Like has been said the 9262 exceeds expectations in most all areas. Certainly in quality of build.
