Hmmm... I think there are zero chances for someone in Iran to order a laptop from the US. The bank will freeze your funds and will not remit them to XoticPC. This happened to me.... Even though I live in Bahrain, my dad's bank (where he works) is Iranian and for that, all my money was "locked" and never reached XoticPC! Then we had to fish out remit the same amount AGAIN through a friend... and now they're returning us by wiring back the original sum.. Better not risk sending from Iran unless you want to lose the money....

There are 3 ways I can think of in receiving your laptop.
    1. XoticPC UPS option - $289. This is what I chose. It's XoticPC's officially recommended service! It's uber-reliable and FAST (less than 2 days for me). Also, there's online order tracking.
    2. XoticPC USPS option - $223. Cheaper option, but less reliable. No order tracking. There have been issues in the past. Slow.... last I remember, a guy in Afghanistan ordered a unit and it reached him 9 days later!
    3. ARAMEX - you set up an ARAMEX account in UAE, then have XoticPC deliver to the US address that ARAMEX provides you, and they will send it to you at a price per kilo (don't remember the price, but it turns out to be equally expensive). This will also turn out to be longer and slower with an additional step in between, and no order tracking.

I couldn't recommend the first option, UPS enough! :D The UPS guy brought the laptop to my doorstep.... Tis' a great feeling!! :D

As Prasad said,go with something that's reliable. You wouldn't want to loose the laptop in shipping after paying this price, right?

I was worried about the same thing. I know myself from experience so far and I'm a very careful user.... my last desktop lasted me SIX years without repair, and only software problems that I resolved myself.... And all my doubts were obliterated when I first got my hands on this laptop and used it myself.... it's very sturdy, well built, fast and reliable! I don't foresee any problems.... And if at all there are any, I'd try solving them myself or with people and those typical computer repair shops around.... worst come worst, I'd ship it to XoticPC for repair... The standard warranty covers parts and labour for 1 year, and labour only for another 2 years..... so that's 3 years totally of warranty coverage. I just have to pay the additional shipping charges! :)

Note that the 9262 is around 2 kilos heavier than the 5793, not to mention also thicker! But if you need lot of hard disk space, SLi and desktop quad core, at the incredible cost of battery life, go ahead.. :) Then again.... it's the best laptop to use (the 9262) if you plan on keeping it plugged in :D The 5793 however offers a good balance of power and decent mobility :)
EDIT: Oh! And I think the 5793 looks way cooler with the unique orange trim :D

I you're choosing a shipping method I would recommend anything but USPS if you want to get it fast.
The reason I chose USPS for my last order was the low cost but my laptop arrived after two weeks and the tracking is also updated very rarely.
I'm buying a 9262 from Rambo29 right now and I will decide between UPS or Fedex but I think I will go with UPS since Prasad007 says UPS shipping only took him like 2 days.
I don't expect it to arrive in just 2 days but it will be much faster than USPS nonetheless.
I can't wait for it to arrive :D.
The fastest I've ever tried was a 8600m GT!

PS: I live in Spain by the way.

Actually it roamed around in the US for almost a day.... but I guess the order tracking page wasn't updated cus just a little while later it was in Dubai... next thing I know it was in Bahrain "Import Scan".... so I think it cud have reached me in just over 24 hours... at the most 1.5 days, the extra delay came because the laptop arrived on a weekend (holiday) and UPS was closed... they then delivered it next morning... :D
Oh and thank you Bahrain for no import taxes or duties!! :D

That is very good advice. There have been other international buyers - e.g., member 6edo - who had extremely bad luck with USPS shipping to the U.S.

Yeah.... I let 6edo's horrid experience with USPS be in part a major reason why I went ahead with the more expensive UPS option! :)

I read his thread but most people are probably thinking that his experience is extremely rare and that it will never happen to them but as you can see it DOES happen to some people and I don't want to be that someone (especially when you consider loosing a VERY expensive laptop)!
I feel so sorry for that guy!

I can only recommend to anybody buying from the US to consider UPS or Fedex.
You will pay more but you can just sit back and have that nice comfortable feeling (You know the one I mean :D) and just think of the faster shipping, much more frequent tracking updates and better service as an added bonus.

does anyone know of what kind of duty you have to pay to have stuff say from Xotic pc be sent to europe?

I know it depends on what exactly is sent and how mcuh it costs. anyone here done this to give me an example?

The customs rate really vary by country. There is just one import tax that you would have to pay if your package was inspected by customs. This tax is to prevent "dumping" and to protect their own country's businesses.

I have had customers from Europe complain of paying around 50% on the import tax for the purchase of an 4$U$ 333 8.9" laptop =P...

There are of course methods around it :D but just have to find the loophole =).

Well, there is another easier loop hole which is technically legal. One could use some methods to make it "gift" status, which would allow the package to pass without tax. But its not 100% fail safe. For example, some northern European countries are very strict...they would tax everything even if the package fulfills all the "gift" criteria, so it is around 50% that would get taxed. Whereas, some southern European countries, its only 2% that would get taxed.

Well, if u are from middle east so u should choose ARAMEX.Com which is fright forwarding mail in ny and forward ur mail box to ur country...Another one cheaper youshopweship.Com its all depend on weight 9.5 FOR first 1/2 kg then 3.5 for the rest each 1/2 by the way it was cheaper like 70$ for int. shipping from usa to egypt with very good tracking.

the thing about that is, many people know of that loophole, and many bad people who handle it in transit take advantage of this. since it is not stated at its real value and becomes lost, you are left without a laptop and without a refund. its EXTREMELY risky.

Has anyone bought from Xotic PC and imported to the UK? I was wondering if they have international guarantee. Those computers are SO much cheaper than UK stores; even with 280 dollar delivery I'll still save hundreds of pounds.

Yes, that is why we have a special arrangement with our delivery service =).

But items that require warranty service would still have to be covered both ways by the buyer =P. It is the nature of purchasing an item that does not have representation in other countries yet...
