    Looking to upgrade to the Nvidia 980M

    Right.., I'm saying I'm wondering if the difference between aftermarket cost versus cost from reseller during customization will justify buying it aftermarket, rather than just having it installed as part of the customization from reseller.

    When I upgraded to dual GTX 970m's each card was slightly more expensive (~$50) then if I configured the machine with them when I bought it new.

    The 980m will be a fair bit more by itself, it always commands a premium to be top. Getting it at config should be best by a bit.

    Right, upgrade price at the time of building usually includes a small discount. A standalone purchase is almost always more, unless buying the card used/reworked.
