As per the above really - long time lurker, first time poster :) I've been doing a lot of research into the various Clevo models over the past few weeks and I'm pretty much set on the spec that I'm after. Ideally, I want to get the P370EM with a single 7970M so that:

    a) I avoid the Enduro issues with P1x0EM.
    b) I can upgrade to Crossfire in the future.

Checking around with resellers though; the majority seem to only ship with dual GPUs. Anyone know where I'd be able to get hold of one with a single GPU; preferably in the UK?

    Cheers.

If you manage to find out, drop me a PM as well :D I've also been looking for this possibility since I already have a 7970m and don't have need for two more if i get this. And i want to get this :p Have you tried contacting the system builders and asking directly if they'll quote you a price with only one GPU? Such as PCSpecialist or PWN PCS?

Yes, I contacted PCS and Scan (3XS) and neither will do it.

As luck would have it, I've just discovered that mysn.co.uk do offer this option, on their P722 model. Coming in at around £1,268 with the single 7970M, i7-3630QM, 320Gb HD (already got couple of spare SSDs), 2x4Gb Corsair, etc.

So it's about £200 more than the equivalent spec based on a P170EM chassis; which was more than I expected. Having said that, £200 for future proofing... tempting. I'm going to have to give this some thought!

For the non-3d one that's about the same difference as the US so it's not price gouging, that's just what sager/clevo charges extra.

you can order a single card in the cofig from mysn UK XMG P722 17.3" Pro Gaming Notebook

doh! missed you post above that you had already seen it.

with mysn though you get 2 years full warranty as standard compared to the misleading pcs 3 year standard which only gives 1 month courier, 1 year parts and 3 years labour.

Cheers mate. Can see you got your laptop from mySN too - I've never heard of them (but then I've never really looked for performance laptops before!). How did you find the service and how's your laptop?

    your welcome.
for me it was great service.
wanted to buy the previous model but at the time there was no resellers in the uk that i was willing to drop two grand with.
mysn expanded from germany round about setember-ish last year and i ordered on the first day.
lappys as far as i know are still built in germany even though ordered through the uk office.
mine took 10 days from order to receiving it so i was very happy.
it sure is a beast for a 15" but i did have some raised temperatures so mysn repasted cpu/gpu for me without any problem.
ive not seen your model you were thinking of but specked out that would be a real power house and breaze through anything.

I must admit I've now gone full circle and can't decide between:

    - P370EM with 1x 7970M ~£1250
    - P170EM with 1x 680M ~£1250
    - P170EM with 1x 7970M ~£1050

Pay more for either top performance now or spare GPU slot for future proofing - either way no Enduro problems. Or save cash but potentially have Enduro issues?

    Decisions, decisions!

    These guys are great!
Got my machine from them, payed it on delivery (this is how I like it). No bank-wire, none of that.
Will definetely order from them again!

I personally think you won't regret spending the extra on either of those two at £1250, the P370EM is heftier but has that second slot. The P170EM has that 680M and because of optimus much better battery life.
