My laptop has a spoilt motherboard.
If I have to sent it to Sager repair service, they'd charge US$500 for the motherboard replacement.

    I don't mind but.
The item's all the way in Jakarta.
It's seriously going to be very expensive to just send it there
and then send it back again!

So i'm thinking if there are any place I can buy the motherboard?

RJ Tech sells motherboards. I got the NP5797 motherboard for 480$ + shipping.

well, just ask a reseller to ship you the part itself and you fix it yourself? that'll save you ALOT on costs ... labour + one way shipping,etc..

that's provided you know how to fix the mobo yourself... you can download a service manual and try tho.. its worth a shot..

or else you'll have to hand carry your system down to the reseller's outlet taking cheap cheap transport over land and seas.. =s

i'm still thinking of a cheap solution for my PSU problem, so i guess i'll hang around here for abit for more ideas :)

do you think i should ask pctorque as well?

    My sager model is 9750V
if anyone has something up, please help me as well
i feel like trading in the laptop actually but it feels like a waste if i do that

Well Stavros, I lately repaired my good old 8890. Installed a new motherboard because the on-board gpu malfunctioned. Took me a small two hours, one right hand will do :)

Sager would or could not help me. They didn't want to send me a new or refurbished motherboard. I understood it is their policy not to send such replacement parts, they want to protect the customer from making mistakes.

They adviced me to contact a local (I live in the Netherlands) Clevo repair center and guess what, these guys promptly shipped me a new motherboard :)

here are the Clevo contacts all over:
    http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/about/worlds_s.asp

I do not know if its worth it to repair your system if its going to cost anything more than $600.... since a new notebook with comparable performance will cost about $800 now.
