I've been looking into buying a new laptop and have definitely decided on getting the Sager/Clevo chassis. I've got to keep the build somewhere below the $1500 mark on price point, but nonetheless, would like to get the most bang for my buck. I've noticed links that say some resellers offer exclusive discounts to NBR members, but cannot find the actual discounts anywhere to apply towards my buying decision. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Larry from lpc digital will give you discounts if you pm him. Xotic and Malibal offer free shipping.

Hi!
I also created a thread before deciding on my purchase. Ask a couple questions in this thread and people who have the answer will reply eventually. It's kind of late here in my time zone so responses may be sparse right now.It is also encouraged that you PM the resellers who frequent these forums and ask them if they have any discounts. Sometimes they forget to list some, so you could make their lives easier by listing out things like military, student, price matching discounts, etc.
Off the top of my head, some USA resellers to PM are Malibal, mythlogic, Justin@XoticPC (sorry all the other XoticPC'ers, but Justin posts a lot more so I remember his account), Larry@LPC-Digital, babyhemi. Sorry if I didn't include somebody!
-
I'd grab a list of specs and discounts you think may apply and ask each for a quote via PM.
Personally, I've had luck with Xotic, who has been extremely responsive. Been waiting a couple of days on responses from PMs to Malibal. I haven't tried out the others, though you'll be able to tell who is active easily. Spend a couple of days following threads.
Ultimately, I really don't think there's a bad choice. Check out the reseller's thread here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-0-faq-reseller-info-read-before-posting.html

Had a good experience with XoticPC.
-
your best bet would be from either XoticPC or Malibal. Just PM them what model and specs you're interested in and then haggle with them.
-
Mythlogic is fantastic. I have never had a company deal so patiently with me or answer my questions so quickly. I even had one of the employees emailing me early in the morning, before their shop opened, so that I could get everything sorted out before I went camping.
I believe they are offering a pretty nice deal right now with something like $100 in free items/upgrades. Definitely worth checking out. -
I've had good PM responses from both Malibal and Justin@ExoticPC. Very quick - within 10 minutes usually, half hr at most
-
I would definitely recommend LPC-Digital, very quick responses, and I got my machine delivered fairly quicker than most! because LPC is in Las Vegas.... contact babyhemi aka [email protected]

The resellers with top rep here are Malibal, XoticPC, Mythlogic and a few more but you can't really go wrong with any of them. Check out the reseller thread that Xerloq posted...
For discounts, PM them. Most provide special discounts for NBR members! -
read the forums and the one's you see post most often is a good starting point. the resellers that post here often are xotic, malibal, mythlogic, lpc.. and more but cant remember them all. i decided to go with myth since nothin is outsourced and they were quick to answer all question and went into detail. they truelly know what they offer. but from what i've read around the forums you cant go wrong from one of the ones listed, good luck.

If you're still looking for opinions, I think malibal is a good choice. I've been looking around and they seem to have the most bang for your buck at that price range.
-
Any username in grey is a reseller.
As far as prices go, most will price match, including us, but we have to see an official quote. -
I purchased from Malibal the other day after speaking with reps from both Malibal and Xoticpc (Justin). They're both extremely helpful and very active on these forums. The deciding factor really came down to brand name(Sorry sager fans
). Would definately recommend either of them!

Thanks for all the mentions.

Lets not forget the legendary man who never sleeps Ken Lee
GenTech PC
He is GenTechPC on the forums -
I've been impressed with Malibal's service (I bought a laptop from them early last month). They were very nice when I made the purchase, and their technical support has been pretty friendly.
The downside is that I had to use the technical support and the problem hasn't entirely gone away after sending the laptop in for repair, but I don't really blame them for that. -

Also went with Malibal. Best price and Matt really worked with me on my configuration flip-flopping.

Seems on the high side for that configuration hitparader. Configuring the same thing over at Malibal and the price came out to $1,657.73 (cash) $1,709 non-cash. Malibal also has 4-year labor warranty. Same 1-year parts.
Few comments on that build:
-I think you can skip out on the IC Diamond 7 for the 560M.
-Why bump up to 2720QM and 1600mhz RAM? Performance gain is minimal and for the $255 total those upgrades cost, you can get a nice SSD or a screen upgrade. Heck, you would be much better off with a GPU uprade instead.
If you bumped down the processor to a 2630QM and went with the standard 8GB 1333Mhz RAM, you could add in a Radeon 6990M and the final price at Malibal would be $1,648.03 (cash) $1,699.00 (non-cash). -

Just ordered from Malibal via phone...The customer service representative was extremely helpful. Thank you daboosh for helping me determine the upgrade to the GPU was more worth it than what I had originally set up for a build. This is the configuration I decided on, and I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome of my order.

This thread is exactly the reason why I created the Clevo Guide.
The guide is meant to be a time-saver. A little research goes a long way, people.
