Ok so i've heard about eurocom, then ProStar, and other
Wich one is better in Support, Config, Price, Shipping?
I'm totally lost!
Thanks alot!

XoticPC is based in the USA, but they do ship to Canada. I got mine from XoticPC. The only downsides:
1. You have to pay customs/duty.
2. You need to pay for replacement parts temporarily, until Sager receives the defective part. Once they receive the item(s), you will be given back the cost. However, the price you paid to ship the defective part(s) won't be reimbursed.
Those two things aside, everything is great.
As for Sager resellers based in Canada, all I know of is Eurocom. And I know they charge a very high amount for their machines. Too high. -
I know Eurocom orice is horrible... what about ProStar?
-
The same story bro
I'm going to get NP8662 (GTX260M).
I've checked Eurocom website. Well, they do not have 8662, 8660 only. Then, their prices are way bigger then xotic.
Yesterday I talked to Eurocom. Regarding 8662 - they will update their website in order the customers being able to pre-order 8662. That's fine for me.
Prices. It's ridiculous. To be fare in comparison let's see the prices in USD. Here's the differences in basic config:
Eurocom - USD 1,490:
Fingerprint - NO, 9800 GTS, T5800 (???), HDD - 160Gb, Wi-Fi - NO, BT - NO, Card Reader - NO, Carrying Case - NO.
Xotic - USD 1,350:
Fingerprint - YES, GTX260M, P8600, HDD - 250GB, Wi-Fi -Intel® 5300, BT - YES, Internal 7-in-1 Card Reader, Basic Black Business Case - Included.
U see difference in specs but Eurocom costs $150 more. And with specs I'd like to get the prices are: Eurocom (still 9800 GTS but not GTX260M and T9400 but not T9550) - USD 2,327 and Xotic - USD 1,588, i.e. difference is USD 739.
Sorry, guys, it's not the case. For me personally the picture is clear... Sure, I'd like to buy it from Canadain dealer, but ...
Price matching. FAQ says that "Yes, will match any published price of an identical laptop offering the same warranty and 24/7 DOMESTIC support.". Let's see...
But as of now me personally ready to go Xotics and one of Justins. -
Am I wrong? -
*EDIT* Eurocom does have higher prices but they are negociable. You just have to contact them via email/phone. However, I don't think they can price match right now giving the fact that the CDN dollar is low. I'm still waiting to see what will be the prices for the new M860TU on Eurocom. I'm curious to see if they'll put a supplement to get the GTX 260M. -
When I'll be at home later 2day, I'll find his review and give u the link. -
Express shipping is alot more expensive, but you don't pay any brokerage fees. So no it is not the same price. Still you'll get it faster
BTW someone made a guide about imports that I've found very useful, here's the link http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=290458
And I forgot to mention, but currency isn't up to date on eurocom's website, so you might want to look at the config in CDN (And then change it yourselft to US if you want) -
I noticed thisnow the ratio is 1.15 but even with this it's way expensive ... unfortunately...
-
My apologies. I did mean GST/PST. Sorry about the confusion.
-
no problems, bro
and in terms of GST/PST the purchase with Eurocom does not give benefit for me, coz we both in Ontario. -
XoticPC: best support and good price but have to pay taxes and shipping fees for repairs
Pro-Star: same price as XoticPC. Cheaper shipping since everything is prepaid (no surprises at the door) but haven't heard about support. Still have to pay shipping for repairs.
Eurocom: more expensive but negociable. Canadian dollar = cheaper in a way. Cheaper shipping for repairs (you still have to pay shipping I think). If you are not located in Ontario, you only pay GST, not PST (while if you import, you pay both: GST and PST or HST).
Depends on what you are looking for in terms of configuration for your laptop and your budget. -
I have a Pro-Star, and I can't complain about the product or support. Worth note is that Pro-Star tends to get its early (myself and one other received our M860TU before those who ordered through other sellers), so you may want to call them if you want it first. Some called shenanigans when their launch date for the original M860TU seemed early, but it panned out as correct.
They're currently listing the shipping date for the M860ETU as March 27. -
how about pctorque.com
-
If i correctly understand your question.... -
You still have to pay all the taxes since there are based in the US and doesn't seem to offer any shipping advantage like Pro-Star
-
okok, so since I live in Quebec, I only pay GST for eurocom?
And for import, is there a difference with Brokerage Fees and duties?
Brokerage Fees are UPS charge for import? and for duties its the government charge for import?
And my budget is 1500$ very very max... I wish I had US money in my pocket...
Thanks everybody! -
And for proStar, if Im buying from Canada? What shipping I need to pick?
there is International - No Price shown
Canadian Order - 290$ ()
Ups Ground - No price shown
Ups - from 30 to 95$
with this little paragraph:
Canadian Order: 290$
Total: 1,807.08$
GST 5%: 110$
Total: 2313$ -
As far as shipping fees go www.extremegaminglaptops.com has free shipping on all laptops to US and Canada. Support and customer service is great as well. They are a division of M-Tech Laptops. M-Tech Laptops has a few more systems on the mother site but they charge shipping.
Good luck on your shopping!!! -
You forgot the add the currency conversation in your Pro-Star calculation. If you order with Pro-Star, you pay only $290 for taxes, shipping and brokerage fees, which are all the fees you can encounter when ordering.
If you order from XoticPC, you will get something like this: http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/4069/image96lq8.jpg, that you'll have to pay at the door.
Don't forget that you can negociate the price with Eurocom and you'll only have to pay GST with them. -
Like a ad says - "feel the difference" -
-
-
"configuration w/o GTX260" -
But why Eurocom don't have the GT260? Just 9800, 9600 or 8800?
I mean it's the same model as Prostar or XoticPC...
Why would I bother negociate with Eurocom for a 9800GTS P8600 2.4GHz 320GB for 2200$ incl. Tax and Ship
when I can get a MSI GT627 same resolution with a 9800 GS P9500 2.5GHz 500GB BluRay for 1600$ + 13% tax(Quebec)
or a MSI GT627 lower resolution with a 9800 GS P8400 2.4GHz 320GB at Newegg.CA for 1600$ include tax, ship, handling?
The is no big difference between the GS and GTS no? -
But anyway they will get GTX260M -
Ok, well let's wait...
btw Thanks alot guys! -
Heyy, does anyone know where I can buy the Vaio FW 490 in Canada?
Or any internet retailers that ship to Canada and don't overprice their products.
Thanks -
And try not to necropost... as per the forum rules.
Where to buy in Canada? I'm lost
