atiflash in dos should be able to give you info about it.

Ok, thanks, I've never used that program before though, do I just need to boot from it?

You need to boot to a DOS bootable USB stick with atiflash on it, you need the latest version from techpowerup.

On a side note you can type atiflash for it to give you the full list of commands.

Hmm so tried it earlier but didn't get anywhere, not massively surprised as I'm a noob to bios flashing, tried typing atiflash and atiflash.exe but it just came up with page fault and a lot of numbers, is there a specific command i should be typing in? Also I saw the option for a UEFI boot from my memory stick, is that something I need to worry about?

No since dos is certainly not UEFI lol.

Page fault is a very odd error, I would try formatting the stick again or trying another.

ATIFlash wont work on your 150em - you need to use ATIWinflash instead.

I thought they had fixed atiflash too? Strange since it was not page fault errors but simply an inability to detect a vbios on the card.

Yeah, they might be closer to it working but it definitely isn't. Even SVL7 is recommending to use ATIWinflash from the word go.

In either case, I'm just happy as a pig in mud that we can finally flash new vbios to our dGPU's!!!!! Its nice t breath a little life into these aging machines without dropping a lot of coin, or even risking very much. With some good TIM, my temps are just peachy. I'm beyond excited to get a higher wattage PSU so I can really see what this puppy is capable of. I've made it completely through 3DMark11 at 1000/1500 with a max temp of 96 deg C. And that's with 12 month old TIM. I'm betting with some new thermal pads and a repaste, things will be even better.

So if anyne has suggestions or a thread for a modded 240+ watt PSU for the 9150/150em - I am all ears!!!!

It sure beats swapping the card into an old acer 5935G like I had to:

    7970Mbios.jpg

I was one of the first able to get a modded 7970M in the 150EM.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go tomorrow, btw I've never used this program before either, is it quite simple? I'm guessing it comes up with a dos command box any idea what I'll need type to bring up the commands?

Also may I ask where you got your modified vbios from, did SVL7 give it to you?

    atiwinflash -h

that command is the first one you should use. So yes, it is a dos command you will be working from.

Yes.... yes you were. And I talked to you about it! I almost bought an Acer just so I could have a flashing station of my own and a back up laptop. Something told me to wait though. SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I did!!

Make sue you do something like overclock the gpu to 855 mhz or something to ensure the dgpu is active.

atiwinflash -h will give you all of the commands

atiwinflash -ai will give you information on all accessable gpu's..... again - refer t the list in the -h command l

You can also look up the commands for atiflash because they are the same.
