I want to benchmark to check my scores. I've never done it before, and I don't want to kill my new laptop. Where do I start?(I have a PowerSpec 1510 / Clevo P650HS-G / Sager NP8157.)
I already ran CHKDSK and Memtest86 (4 passes), and everything looked good.![]()
I've read suggestions to run 3DMark, but keep coming across links for the version from 2013.I also saw a suggestion for Heaven Benchmark.

For CPU benching, Cinebench, Geekbench, Blender, SuperPI, 7zip and even AIDA64 are good choices.
For read/write speeds of your SSD, use CrystalDiskMark.
For GPU benching, Unigine Heaven is good (Valley is a decent choice too). Don't worry about the age of 3DMark, its a good benchmark. Aside from that, certain games are useful for benchmarking such as Metro 2033/Last Light Redux etc.Chowda289 likes this. -
3dmark "2013" is the latest, it has been updated with the Timespy DX12 test and recently the Timespy Extreme as a 4K DX12 benchmark

Not much to go wrong really, but for a more accurate benchmark - shut down anything in the background that may interfere with the results. Its also worth making sure you have plenty of ventilation so you don't run into any thermal throttling.Chowda289 likes this.

@Arrrrbol Thanks again for the help! I did benchmarks for the CPU and GPU. I've posted them under this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/powerspec-1710-1510.809785/page-24

It's only power viruses like furmark you have to watch out for.
Where to start with benchmarking?
