Okay, I'm sure this has been asked 7683455 times before but I couldn't find the answer. Where should I buy a Clevo from? Right now, I'm leaning toward Xotic PC.

Thers not really one that is better, all four have different options, the four top resellers from America are:
    XoticPC
    Malibal
    LPC-Digital
    Mythlogic

all three have different benefits, for example Malibal gives you an option of a hard drive caddy, Mythlogic gives you more options when configuring your respected chassis. XoticPc gives you the option for them to overclock your laptop for you, for optimum performance, and LPC-Digital gives you the most detail about what they offer. All four pricematch as far as I am aware and all have respective members on the NBR forums. It mainly depends on what you want and who you want to talk to.

PowerNotebooks is missing from the list ;)
Their rep on the forums, Paladin44, has been very helpful here as well.

    @ scar:
I order through LPC-Digital myself, because I felt Larry/babyhemi provided better customer service. However, I also checked out other resellers like XoticPC, and Malibal as well.

I'd hate to sound like I'm shortchanging Xotic by swaying you from them, but like many here will say, don't limit yourself to just one reseller at the initial stages. Speak to a number of them, as that will help you make a better decision.

    Happy shopping :D

Well I can tell you where you shouldn't buy a Clevo from. I think most of us know where that is. ;)

Good places to buy from are:

In the US: Xotic PC, Powernotebooks.com, Malibal are a few.

In Canada: Fortnax and Reflex Notebook.

Let's see there's a sticky and about 3-4 other active threads where you'll find multiple NBR Members doing the same thing they are doing here. We've concluded that because none of us have been scorned or dejected yet, that we will continue to sing the praises of our own resellers. No one wants to think they made a bad purchasing decision. Only through your own personal research, phone calls and e-mails will you be able to weight the pro's and con's. The mostly balanced mix of pre-orders from resellers in this forum is a testament to that.

Also remember that in any business, a representative being friendly or prompt does not mean that they're not still trying to get one over on you (relatively speaking). People have kids to feed and bills to pay. The resellers being present on this forum is part of a business strategy, not a valiant effort to make the world a better place.

A more complete list of US Resellers is:

    RJTech
    Malibal
    PowerNotebooks
    MYTHLOGIC
    CyberPowerPC
    OriginPC
    Falcon Northwest
    LPC-Digital
    XoticPC
    AVADirect

These are all of the reseller brands that I looked at in my research process. Also please note that a Sager is the same thing as a Clevo but with a Sager sticker on it. Sager is an importer of Clevo's and the supplier for most of these resellers. Some of the resellers simply are the go between for you and Sager and never touch the laptop while others receive barebones shells from Sager and assemble the laptop themselves using parts sourced from other locations. Even more, some receive completely assembled laptops from Sager and can give it a coat of paint or slap their own sticker on it instead of the Sager one. Sager is often erroneously given credit for Clevo designs and innovations mostly because people don't completely understand what it is they do.

    superb! :D

they are very friendly, prompt in replying to emails, and offer unmatched customization options for their systems. their prices really aren't that high (like a lot of people say). they, like the others, will price match for configurations and have a bit of wiggle room for haggling :)

I can't speak to the long term customer service but so far they have been great. I have been working with Josh and he's been very prompt with emails and answering my question. Got a great deal and I also like that they build in house. So far so good.

I'm looking for a reseller that does not have the sager logos on their laptops and also ships to canada (toronto, specifically). Anyone know some?

really? oh hehe I always thought they were part of the screen, like the dell ones, since in the screenshots they looked very shiny and dented in.

and this applies to all the sager notebooks with the logo right?

Do you ship yours with just the Malibal logo? The malibal logo under the screen is great, especially if it means the back of the screen is blank. (and it looks less tacky than the Sager logo)

It depends on the model. On the P150/51HM we put the MALIBAL logo below the screen and on the back as well. However, we can put it just on the front, or just on the back or leave it off altogether.

By default, it will be on the front and back on the P150/51HM.

I'm surprised not more people are mentioning AVADirect. Their prices and customization appears to be better than ALL the competition, at least with Clevo/Sager notebooks like the x7200. Why are they not more popular?

I haven't worked with them yet but I plan on purchasing the refresh of the x7200, the P180HM, from them unless someone else has a reason I shouldn't.

Hmm... I just tried rebuilding my x7200 at Ava Direct website - and their price for my configuration seems noticeably higher than the price offered by Xotic PC at the moment when I got my laptop from them. What makes you think that Ava's price is better than ALL the competition, then? :)

basically all the price differences are negligible. all the resellers with match prices if asked to.. as far as customization, they seem to offer less options vs like xotic (for example) or Mythlogic..

$6,203 for the high end spec on exotic PC.

$6,564 for the high end spec on AVADirect.

However, the difference at AVA Direct is I specced 2 Crucial 256gb SSD's in raid 0.
Dropping the AVA Spec down to the highest SSD's Xotic offers, the AVA price is $6,072. That's $200 less.

The AVA site also gave me far more customization, even including the thermal compound which I upgraded in the AVA build.

Perhaps for lower specs Xotic PC is a better deal but for the high end specs of the x7200 AVA is def the better source from what I'm seeing.

I don't have any idea how you could come to that conclusion. AVA Direct clearly has significantly more customization options than xotic PC. There is not even room for confusion there. Now, I'm only looking at the laptop I've been researching the hell out of.. the x7200.. but still. What am I missing that you're referring to as having less customization than xotic?

I'm not a rabid fan boy but I've been looking into this a lot lately to find the best spot to order my Clevo from and after a lot of comparison decided on AVADirect, which is why I'm surprised by this response.

i may have mis spoken.. i just took a quick glance through it for my laptop and saw they didnt offer the upgraded screens. nor very many options for hd's (mainly ssd's).

they do however have many more options for thermal compounds and ram which is nice..

i'm not tryin to put them down :) just noting what i see

the reason i went with mythlogic was for the configuration options. if they dont have it as an option, they'll get it for you. you find a great deal on one? you can buy it, ship it to em, an they'll put it in for you.

Is your guys logo also just a sticker? I was looking at some image of a laptop and the back logo looked a little crooked >_>.

I'd prefer with the logo though, because it's a pretty cool font.

No, it's not a sticker. It's an electroform nameplate. Also, if you're talking about the image from the CS review, that was damaged.
