I had originally planned to buy a Clevo P751ZM which had the highly rated AU Optronic B156HAN01.2 IPS display ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-U505-Clevo-P751ZM-Notebook-Review.134638.0.html). But I waited sometime for the Skylake upgrades.

Unfortunately, the upgrade P751DM uses LP156WF6 panel from LG Philips. Notebookcheck writes "cannot keep up with the old AU Optronics B156HAN01.2 display" ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-U506-Clevo-P751DM-Notebook-Review.151283.0.html).

Since I will be only using the laptop for photo editing and graphic design purpose, the display quality (after calibration) is my most important selection criteria. Of the current generation of Clevos, which model should I look at? I am from Europe, if it helps.

So my question to you would be, are you interested in 17.3" as well? Or are you only interested in 15.6"?

Either way, you're in luck, being in Europe. One of the resellers that offers the most display options is Eurocom. Since you're not gaming, you don't need a G-Sync compatible display, and this opens up plenty of more options for you. The Eurocom X4 is the P751DM, and offers high quality SHARP IGZO displays: http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,331,0)ec.

If you really want an AUO, you're also in luck, as a 4K AUO display is available in the Eurocom X9 (P870DM): http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,336,0)ec

These displays that I'm mentioning are all 4K displays, but since you are photo editing and doing graphic design, a 4K display is probably the way to go anyway. You should also consider the larger your screen, the more benefit you will actually see from having a 4K monitor. Some will argue that you can barely tell the difference between 4K and 1080p in a 15.6" display, but that is generally only the case when gaming, for photo editing it will probably help you, especially if you want all the higher quality stats that come along with those displays.

To look up datasheets for different panels, you can go to panellook.com once you figure out the model number, and use google to figure out what all the different stats mean, and that might help you make a good decision as well.

But Eurocom is in Canada? I mean, they'll ship to any country in the world and they are definitely my favourite reseller (sorry, other resellers!), but they most certainly aren't located in Europe...

Ah, ok. I've never used them, but their info says they are headquarters in derby, UK.

Edit: seems I was looking at the former game development company called Eurocom, LOL

I am also interested. Which displays are considered better? I don't think there is bad displays but rather not as good as.

That one, bar none (AUO B173ZAN01.0).

    sRGB:

Uncalibrated though, so those blue/green edges may be within reach as well (specification is 100% Adobe RGB, after all). Pretty spectacular, really; this'd require a 4k/$1k monitor or a (mere) fhd DreamColor otherwise.

I am only interested in 15.6", because this will be my traveling partner.

Thanks for the suggestions. And as @t456 said, they have some spectacular specs.

I would have been comfortable with a 1080p display (and its low price of course) since this would be an additional mobile workstation. But now, these will make me think again.

It's a great machine and the 4k is a more-than-decent panel (equivalent to the B156HAN01.2). But it's still no match to full Adobe RGB and, hence, full CMYK accuracy:

Really, if you edit for production/print then there's no alternative (beyond guesstimation). Though web-only is easier; sRGB would be fine. Hmm ... there is one alternative at 15.6"; the B156HW01 V4 (1080p).

    Adobe RGB:

It's the smaller brother of the B173HW01 V4, hence the quality. Problem here is availability; only used, considering its age. Thing is; some of the newer Clevo models still sport LVDS panels (rather than newer eDP), so they can run this beauty just fine. You'll have to do the swap yourself and source the panel, but it'd mean a modern machine with no-compromise colour-accuracy for the cheap. The 17.3" ZAN would have better blacks (nice for movies), but this thing is a perfect match for print work.

I have the Sharp IGZO 4k and its an amazing display. I don't have measurements unfortunately but even out of the box it had great color reproduction. This is on a Clevo P750DM sold as a Sky X4 from Eurocom.

    The P750DM uses eDP.
