I'm trying to see the differences .... not seeing them.

Are you asking between Sager and Compal?

More or less. Both are from the Sager website. Blue is cheaper and has a 9 cell battery. Hard drives are different. There are just a few things that are different, and I wasn't sure if one was much better than the other?

the one that cost 1514, because you get more hdd space and a 9cell battery for a lower price!

They are essentially the same computer, so go with the Sager for the extra space and the 9 cell battery.

Great. I like what I'm hearing. The 7200 rpm on the Compal won't be enough to notice much of anything?

Well, the warranty (red) is significantly better. The warranty upgrade of the blue config would cost another $139.

I would dump the MS Office and download Open Office for free, but thats just me :)

Also, is the red the WXGA resolution while the blue is WSXGA? Am I reading that right? Im reading now that the resolutions are the same.

Edit - I guess I dont see how you got a better hard drive and better warranty for the same cost, are you sure there are no other differences?

No, they are both WXGA, but the warranty is so much better on the FORCE (red one) it would be a no brainer for me. 3 full years of both labor AND parts with Next Business Day shipping instead of the Sager warranty that only provides 1 year parts and 3 year labor with 3 day shipping...

    Where are you located...what state?

Depends if you want the warranty or the improved parts. If you're very careful with electronics in general, I think you can make do with a 1 year warranty. If you're new to laptops or general computing for that matter, I'd get a 3 year, but I don't think that's you.

Also, keep in mind the upgradability of some parts, such as the HDD or the RAM - if you don't need the power now you can always add more later.

I have never had a notebook, planning to order one soon, but after using WD Raptor 10000RPM on my desktop I just could not see myself on 5400rpm. So 7200RPM is my opinion with less space and get external if you need more space for storage.

From what I hear, a 7200 RPM HDD has a marginal amount of increased noise (you probably won't notice) and a marginal amount of extra battery consumption. Overall, I think there's no reason why you shouldn't get a 7200 RPM drive if you can afford it.
